Simon Cowell taunts fellow BGT judge Amanda Holden over her ill-fated marriage to 'dinosaur' ex Les Dennis

So it's no surprise that Simon Cowell lived-up to his reputation during the latest round of Britain's Got Talent auditions, recently, where he took aim at co-judge Amanda Holden.

The music mogul, 56, got personal with the 44 year-old when he poked fun at her ill-fated marriage to Les Dennis in a hilarious barbed comment.

According to the Daily Star, the incident happened when a troupe of dancers took to the stage in a T-Rex themed performance. 

Amanda responded with: 'I can see the dinosaur winking at me, it’s flirting with me. It’s not the first time I’ve been flirted with by someone prehistoric.'

To which Simon responded: 'Leave Les [Dennis] alone'.

Unimpressed by the jibe, an embarrassed Amanda then threatened to throw cold water over him in revenge.

But this isn’t the first time Simon - who's hit acts over the years include Sonia, Alexandra Burke and Sinitta - has poked fun at his co-star and her Family Fortunes ex.

A few years earlier he implied that Amanda's career was launched on the back of Les' already-established profile. 

Critiquing one act, Amanda said: 'Look at me. I went from rags to riches,', to which Simon quipped : 'You went from Les Dennis!'.

Amanda was a relative-unknown when she met, and later married, Les in 1995 - when she was just 24 and he was 18 years her senior, at 42.

Amanda is now in a relationship with Chris Hughes - although that too has also had eyebrow-raising moments. 

In 2013 she revealed how she tricked him into having a baby. 'Chris wanted to wait but I had other ideas,' she said. 'In fact Chris thought I was on the pill but in reality I spat them away on a daily basis.

'I can only put it down to the primal need to have another baby and that had overtaken me.'
