Ed Sheeran 'uses an old parking ticket on his Mercedes Jeep so he can continue shopping with girlfriend Cherry... despite being worth £40million'

He passed his practical driving last October so it's safe to say he is still learning the rules of the road.

Singer Ed Sheeran is said to have used the same parking ticket twice on Monday as he parked his car to go shopping with his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn.

According to The Sun, the 24-year-old who is said to be worth £40million, allegedly tried to use the printed ticket again as he moved to a different location in an attempt to avoid getting another one.

The report in The Sun claimed Ed was seen plastering the issued ticket on his windscreen as he tried 'to use an old parking ticket to stop himself getting a new one while parking on double yellow lines'.

MailOnline have contacted Ed Sheeran's spokesperson for comment. 

However, Sheeran didn't allow the occurrence to dampen his spirits as he spent time driving around the capital in his Mercedes Jeep with his better half.

Dressed down for their outing, Sheeran, who is currently enjoying a hiatus from the music business, was casual in a navy tracksuit.

Donning a fitted cap, the award winning singer also wore a pair of spectacles as he completed his look with black trainers and a khaki coat.

Cherry also cut a laid back figure in a quilted black winter warmer, joggers and Van trainers while clutching a bobble hat.

Still going strong, the Take It Back singer and Seaborn are old school friends and reconnected in late summer 2015.

The very private couple are rarely pictured out together in public but put on a doting display as they picked up a few bits and pieces around the city.

The outing comes a month after Ed revealed that he began his break from the business as well as a social media ban.

Announcing his decision via Instagram, he wrote: 'I'm taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while,' he wrote, adding: 'I've had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years.'

'I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed. 

'To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit. To my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far.

'See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing.'
