'I am proud to still call you home': Ashley Hart gushes about Australia after sister Jessica is accused of swapping her birthplace for America

Last month, model Jessica Hart was forced to defend herself on social media after an Australian newspaper claimed she had 'renounced' Australia for New York, where she now lives.

And now it seems her lookalike sister Ashley has chimed in, sharing an interesting post to her Instagram page as she prepared to jet out of Australia.

The 26-year-old shared a snap of herself wearing a custom denim jacket in the departures terminal, along with a lengthy post, declaring: 'Peace out Australia. My beautiful country, I truly am so proud to "still call you Home."'

Referring to Qantas - the airline who her sibling is an ambassador for - Ashley gushed about who she was leaving behind in the country.

'Thank you @qantas yet again for taking me with your big wings across the sea... As I remind myself, this home truly within, these wings set free within who I am being..'

'And no matter what has been, who Iv just said goodbye to or what's to come and all those I am about to see, In this moment, in this breath, you are all with me, we are all connected, One,' (sic) she wrote.

'I love traveling, sitting in a little bubble in the ski, as I reflect from a higher perspective, giving me a clearer perception... Knowing all is perfect and feeling nothing but gratitude for it ALL.

'Thank you, you know who you are, for meeting me here, at the HART.. We are all ONE!!! (sic),' she wrote, before talking about her personalised jacket she was wearing that had her last name emblazoned on the back in red stitching.

'Here I go.. Or should I say, here I AM,' she added.

The post comes after Jessica was forced to defend herself online last year when The Daily Telegraph reported she had 'renounced her country of birth for the US.'

The Telegraph reported Jessica 'felt pressure to "conform" in Australia more so than the Big Apple.'

The newspaper had picked up on an interview she had done with the American publication Convicts,  where she spoke about being based in the US for ten years and published some of her quotes she gave to Convicts.

Jessica, who has modelled for the likes of Victoria's Secret, immediately took to Instagram and got fired up about The Daily Telegraph and shared a picture of the article.

'WOW! Slow day in the press?,' her post began, before urging people to read between the lines.

'Come on! I've lived and worked overseas since I was 15 - yes, at 15 I was trying to conform and be like everybody else, I was a kid. It wasn't until I moved to New York I felt the freedom to be myself, be different and not try so hard to be like everyone else.'

'I'm AUSTRALIAN and PROUD of it ! I've worked my butt off for the past 15 years and my hard work has paid off as I now represent two of the coolest, most iconic Australian brands, @qantas and @portmans_. I couldn't be more proud and honoured to be working with such companies but I don't think that that would have ever happened had have I not moved to the states, where I now live , and yes, call home.'

'This is where my apt is, my dog, my clothes, my life now. Unfortunately I had to leave my country , friends and family from a young age to make a dint in my industry or to even get noticed by the rest of my country (strange that) but it's a sacrifice I would make 10 times over to be where I am today,' she said.

'It's not only lead me to be working with the best Aussie brands out there but it's given me the opportunity to creat my own brand @lumacosmetics one I can only hope, one day will also be an iconic Australian brand it's self.'

'And, this is not a bad place to call home. I highly suggest jumping on @qantas flight 11 or 93 and coming to visit me ! (sic),' she explained in part of her post.

The blonde stunner had previously told Convicts, that she also considers New York her home.

'Here is home. I used to always refer to Australia as home. And I feel terrible saying it, but now it really is home here.'

She added of New York: 'Unique people are the kind who get noticed here. At home you were always trying to conform, and here I kind of felt free to be myself.'

Both Jessica and Ashley are based in the US.

They have recently spent time in Australia with one another and were regularly spotted at Sydney's Bondi Beach.
