Convicted rapist Ched Evans was spotted carrying his newborn son as he stepped out with his fiancée.

Evans, 27, was carrying the baby as he walked to a car with long-term partner Natasha Massey, 27, outside a property believed to be their family home in Cheshire.

Miss Massey gave birth last week but it is not known if the couple have named their son yet.

The couple were seen wrapping up against the bitter cold in thick jackets with Miss Massey carrying an extra white all-in-one for her new bundle of joy.

Former Sheffield United and Wales international striker Evans later nipped back to the property to fetch a kettle so that the front windscreen of a car could be de-frosted.

Miss Massey became pregnant a few months after her fiancé, a former Wales striker, was released from jail having served a five-year sentence.

Evans was convicted of rape after a jury heard that he lured a drunk woman back to his hotel room in May 2011 and attacked her while others filmed it.

The footballer - who was in a relationship with Miss Massey at the time - has always admitted having sex with the victim but insists that the encounter was consensual.

His fiancée and her family have supported him throughout his battle to clear his name, apparently helping to fund his legal defence.

In a TV interview, Miss Massey said: 'I know Ched and I knew he wouldn't be capable of committing a crime like that.'

Last year, the Criminal Cases Review Commission referred Evans' case to the Court of Appeal, bringing his bid to have his conviction overturned one step closer.

Fans of the footballer have reportedly trolled his victim repeatedly, forcing her to hide her identity and move home.

Evans was playing for Sheffield United at the time of his rape conviction, but has been unable to find a club since leaving jail.

Every time he has been linked to a new team, supporters and sponsors have threatened to boycott the club in question because of Evans' crime.

The player and his family have blamed 'mob rule' for the backlash which has prevented him from returning to football.

A spokesman for Evans did not respond to a request for comment on the birth of his first child.
