'She has dug in her heels': Adele 'snubs offer of presenting at star-studded Oscars as ceremony clashes with her world tour'

For one of the world's biggest selling artists, Adele certainly doesn't have time for airs and graces.

It's been reported the Hello singer has turned down the Oscars as it clashes with her own touring schedule.

The down-to-earth singer is said to have declined an invitation to present a top award – because Hollywood's biggest bash of the year is on the eve of her tour starting February 29.

A source told The Sunday Mirror: 'Organisers are desperate to get her and will still do anything to make it happen but she feels the turnaround is too tight and will not let anything jeopardise her tour.

'She is aware things can go wrong which causes delays and also the potential impact of a long flight on her voice. She has dug in her heels on this one.'

MailOnline has contacted Adele's representative for comment.

She said: 'I wrote a lot of songs that didn't make the album because they simply weren't good enough and I didn't believe in them myself, so my confidence was really getting knocked.

'I did pretty much write an album about being a mum, but that's boring, so I scrapped it.'

Adele has broken a string of records with her third album, with the debut single Hello spending its first 10 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

Meanwhile the album beat the Fifa 16 computer game to become the UK's biggest-selling home entertainment title of 2015, selling 2,604,850 copies by the end of the year after just a few weeks of sales.
