Newly single Jenson Button cuts a jovial figure in Los Angeles as he adjusts to life following split from Jessica Michibata

Jenson Button and Jessica Michibata announced the end of their year-long union in December.

But if the Formula One star was feeling any pangs of loneliness, he did well to hide it while out and about in Los Angeles on Monday.

Dashing out to a local supermarket in Beverley Hills, the 36-year-old McLaren Honda driver cut a very up-beat figure as he flashed a huge smile on his way out of the store.

Clearly taking to single life with aplomb, Jensen appeared the definition of happiness as he sauntered around the shop picking up some shopping - which included a bunch of red flowers.

Obviously enjoying a day off from his grueling training regime, the former F1 Champion dressed down in comfy ensemble.

Donning a bright blue tee-shirt and grey quilted bomber jacket, the Somerset native ensured he didn't catch a chill in the early morning air.

Rounding his wardrobe off with a pair of fitted denim jeans and white tennis trainers, Jenson managed to keep up a relaxed yet stylish front.

Adding a rugged yet on-point vibe to his look, the sportsman wore his short sandy hair in a dishevelled quiff, and sported a layer of stubble on his chiseled jawline.

Jenson, who married fashion model Jessica in 2014, has been staying in Los Angeles for pre-season training since the couple announced their split last month.

But rather than letting heartache get the best of him, the British sportsman has thrown himself into his exercise regime - as well as a spot of fun.

Posting a series of snaps to his Instagram acoount since the split, Jenson has shared a series of smiling pictures with his 305,000 followers.

The F1 driver and the 31-year-old model confirmed the end of their marriage last month, with a spokesperson for Jenson telling the MailOnline: 'Jenson and Jessica have decided to go their separate ways and it is very amicable. There is no one else involved.'

A source close to the racing star has since told The Mirror that the couple actually split some time ago, but only decided to make the breakup permanent after drifting further apart since the summer.

'At the moment it is all amicable. But the truth is that for months and months they have been living separate lives,' the source claimed. 

'Things went downhill about six months into the marriage and they last spent any meaningful time together at the United States Grand Prix in October. Jenson is sad about it but is resigned to the fact the marriage is over and there's no way back.'

The F1 star openly spoke about the couple's separate lives in an interview in  with the Mail On Sunday in September, saying: 'We don't see each other any more than before we were married.'
