Khloe Kardashian reveals Lamar Odom's short-term memory 'isn't good'... but claims spending time with her loved ones has helped with his recovery

She has had a tumultuous time where her relationship with Lamar Odom is concerned.

But Khloe Kardashian has given fans an update on her ex’s recovery during a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which will be aired on Monday night.

The basketball player, 36, is slowly recovering after suffering a near-fatal overdose in October and his estranged wife thinks spending time with her family is helping the sportsman.

‘His long-term memory is great,’ she explained. 'His short-term memory isn't so good, but I mean if I met someone earlier today I probably wouldn't remember either so I mean that's understandable.

‘But he's great. He's hung out with Kourt's and Kim's kids. He loves family time. I think it makes him feel good to be around everyone too and to just be in a happy environment over obviously where he was.’

As he continues to improves, Lamar - who was found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel last year - has been asking questions about what happened.

In the interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Khloe's sister Kourtney explained the sports star has slowly been told about the seriousness of his condition, confessing he is now aware that he ‘had four hours to live’.

Khloe - who was speaking via FaceTime while her sister was a guest on the talk show - added: ‘Every day he'll ask me, “So what happened to me?” ‘Like today specifically, he was like, “How many tubes did I have in me again?” 

'And I'm like “I don't know what's too serious to tell you”, but I'm honest. I'm like, “Well just a lot, I didn't count, I don't know.” But it's good that he wants to know these answers.’

‘Before he didn't want to know he wasn't ready to know,’ the TV star added. ‘So it's great that he's at the point that he's ready to know everything happened.’

The KUWTK babe was by Odom's bedside after he collapsed and slipped into a subsequent coma towards the end of last year.

The sporting ace was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for initial treatment and was later transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for ongoing care.

He sustained a brain injury due to strokes he had after being found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel on October 13 and has a long way to go to return to health.

Meanwhile, during the premiere of her new show - Kocktails With Khloe - the American beauty revealed that she always wanted to be a mother and that she planned to have lots of children with Lamar before their marriage failed.

Khloe said they were trying 'to conceive', but that they also wanted to adopt children and be foster parents too.

She explained: 'Lamar and I wanted to conceive, we wanted to adopt but also to foster kids.'
