Mohamed Hadid insists close friend Lisa Vanderpump 'misconstrued' his words after she claimed he didn't believe his children Bella and Anwar have Lyme disease

Yolanda Foster’s ex-husband Mohamed Hadid has slammed claims that he said his children Bella and Anwar don't suffer from Lyme disease.

Yolanda revealed in October that the former couple's children Bella, 19, and Anwar Hadid, 16, have been secretly battling Lyme disease for over three years.

Mohamed, 67, set the record straight on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live following Tuesday's episode of Yolanda's show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, during which Lisa Vanderpump claimed Mohamed had told her Bella and Anwar didn't have the debilitating disease.

Hitting back: Hadid insisted he had 'too much respect' to publicly speak about any of his five children and explained he simply wanted to set the record straight on his misquoted claims 

Lisa, 55, has been friends with Mohamed for many years and made the comments on Tuesday’s episode of The Real Housewives during a group dinner.

When asked by Lisa how his children were, Lisa said that Mohamad had replied 'fine,' with the Real Housewives star then alleging that Mohamed told her that only Yolanda has the disease. 

'[Mohammed] just said no, that she’s the only one that has it. He said he doesn’t think that they had it,' Lisa was heard telling her co-stars.

The bombshell caused her co-stars to gossip and prompted Mohamed, 67, to set the record straight on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live after the reality show aired. 

Talk show host Andy Cohen read a statement from Mohamed - who also is the father of top model Gigi Hadid - addressing the matter.

‘I can only imagine that my response to a question asking how my kids are doing with ''fine'' was misconstrued,’ read the statement.

‘I have too much respect for all five of my children to speak about them publicly in a restaurant or otherwise. I will not speak further on something that should now be put to rest,' the statement said.

RHOBH newbie Erika Girardi during the show stepped in to defend Yolanda saying: ‘What difference does it make whether Yolanda's children have Lyme disease or not?’

‘It doesn't matter what anyone else says about it. It only matters what Yolanda says. You know, why are we questioning this s***? It's not fair,' Erika said.

Yolanda also hit back at her co-stars for discussing her children's health on the reality show, writing a lengthy blog post about the 'disheartening' episode.

'I have nothing to prove and know that my journey is public due to the job I've chosen as a Housewife, but I can't accept something so delicate as my children's health being talked about in such a way,' Yolanda wrote.

'I know I'm not the only mother who would speak to this… It's one thing when your integrity is doubted, spoken of behind your back, but it strikes another cord when it's your children.

'With Mohamed's support, I have managed my children's healthcare on a daily basis since the day they were born. It is up to no one but us to make claims toward their health status.'

'Shame on those who think it's OK to spread rumors and provoke doubt about something so heart wrenching,' she added, while explaining that model Bella had to give up on her dreams of a professional riding career and a shot at the Olympics due to her symptoms. 

Battle: While Gigi Hadid (L) is not a sufferer of the disease, Anwar, Bella and Mohamed's ex-wife Yolanda Foster have all been battling the condition for a number of years 

Yolanda, who was diagnosed with the debilitating condition in 2012, first revealed Bella and Anwar's diagnosis during a speech at the Global Lyme Alliance Gala in New York in October, telling the audience her 'babies have been struggling in silence' with the disease. 

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection spread to humans by infected blacklegged ticks, which are found in woodland areas and on pets. When ticks bite into human skin, the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi infects the person’s body.

Sufferers usually experience a circular rash, muscle pain, joint pain and flu-like symptoms after infection. And left untreated, the infection can spread to the joints, heart and central nervous system.

While Yolanda has not revealed exactly how or when she contracted the disease, in January this year she wrote in a blog post that: 'I wasted the first year trying to get diagnosed and spent the next two trying to find a cure.'

Lyme disease can often be treated if caught early, but Yolanda is struggling with harsher symptoms because she was not diagnosed for around a year.

Yolanda posted a photo on Instagram on Tuesday showing Bella, 19, receiving a treatment for Lyme disease with an IV in her arm while they both reclined in bed.

The top model walked in the Chanel show during Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris this week along with her older sister Gigi.

Lisa meanwhilehas been accused of causing trouble on the current series of RHOBH, between not only Mohamed and Yolanda but other couples. 

RHOBH cast member Eileen Davidson, 56, was a guest on Watch What Happens Live along with soap opera veteran and Broadway star Michele Lee, 73 on Tuesday night. 

Eileen accused restaurateur Lisa of stirring trouble on the show and asking too many personal questions about other people’s marriages.

‘I don’t believe she does anything by accident,' said Eileen who sported a fresh fringe on the show.

‘I feel like she needs to help things along, or make things happen, and that’s her way of doing it,’ she said.

Eileen was displeased with Lisa during a recent episode of RHOBH after being grilled about her divorce.

She tearily told her fellow castmates over dinner that she had been in 'extremely physically abusive relationships'.

Michele formerly starred in Knots Landing and is now appearing on Broadway in the show Wicked.

She said that Lisa reminded her of the scheming character Alexis Colby on the prime time soap Dynasty that was portrayed by Joan Collins.

Speaking of the current scandal between Faye Resnick and Kathryn Edwards, Michele said: ‘Faye Resnick is a very nice person’.

‘She’s getting slammed right now in the press, for some reason…but she’s a lovely woman, beautiful inside and out,’ agreed Eileen.

Eileen and Michele were joined in the clubhouse by fellow soap star Tracy Bergman, 53, who is a castmate of Eileen's on The Young And The Restless.

In the last episode of RHOBH, Eileen was shown scattering her sister’s ashes in Italy, but she's not the only housewife to be bereaved.

Lisa Rinna topped a poll that asked 'Who talks about people behind their backs the most?' with a whopping 44 percent of the vote.

Kyle Richards finished in second place with 33 percent, followed by Lisa Vanderpump with 20 percent.

Eileen was glad that she finished with zero percent of the vote.
