Gwen Stefani bundles up in a cosy khaki coat and turn-up jeans as she treats sons Zuma and Apollo to a day out

While she may be a global chart-topper and a TV star in her own right, Gwen Stefani proved yet again that it never stands in the way of her role as a mother.

Making time in her busy schedule for her children, the 46-year-old singer was seen treating two of her brood, Zuma and Apollo to a day out in Los Angeles, on Wednesday.

But showing that even when she's taking on the more hands-on duties that come with being a mum, the Hollaback Girl chart-topper showcased her own unique and fashionable twist on a winter wardrobe.

Heading out with her two youngest sons - her eldest Kingston, nine, presumably elsewhere - Gwen looked every inch the doting mother as she and her boys took a tiny pup for a walk.

Dressing down with the season in mind, the No Doubt frontwoman still managed to retain her own unique edge.

Making sure to keep any hint of a chill in the air out, the singer wore a white fluffy jumper and a snug thermal neck scarf.

She teamed her winter knits with a green, fleece-lined jacket, which  featurd camoflage sleeves as well as vibrant pannel detailing.

Stay warm in a L.A.M.B x Burton jacket

Gwen Stefani can pull off any look. Whether she's dressed prim and proper for a red carpet event or rocking edgy daytime style - we love all versions of Gwen.

Her look here definitely fell into the casual but edgy category. The star donned cropped jeans, a pair of chunky sneakers, a sweater and green outerwear.

The puffy waterproof jacket is a practical yet stylish pick. With its warm insulating material it's perfect for when the mercury drops, while the quirky leopard print and camouflage contrast design gives it edge, setting it apart from all regular rain coats.

Her warm jacket is from her own line L.A.M.B.'s collaboration with Burton, so no wonder Gwen is trying to promote it. Click right to buy it at The House, or see below for other cool camouflage designs.

And keeping to her casual theme, Gwen slipped her slender legs into a pair of drainpipe, rolled-up jeans.

The Voice judge let her quirky and on-point fashion sense shine through yet again when it came to her footwear, as she sported a pair of polka dot hightops, which she wore unlaced.

She took a sensible approach to her use of accessories and only sported a pair of simple studded earrings and a lone jewelled ring.

Wearing her peroxide locks pinned over in a cascading side-parting, Gwen let her blonde hair tumble down around her shoulders.

Opting for a natural palette of make-up, the California native showcased her striking natural features; choosing to subtly accentuate her eyes and lips with a dash of mascara and nude lipstick.

Zuma showed that he's certainly inherited his mother's style sense, as the cute seven-year-old sported a sweeping fringe and a pair of bright red Adidas high tops.

Her 11-month-old, Apollo - the youngest of her three sons with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale - also sported a quirky look, wearing yellow and black stripy leggings under grey shorts.

The mother and her two adorable sons were accompanied on their walk by a tiny chocolate puppy - with Gwen content to let the children look after the family pooch.
