PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: What a difference a day makes! Make-up free Megyn Kelly steps out without fake lashes that were ‘longer than the Republican debate’ as diet book she touted becomes bestseller

  • Viewers had made fun of her long eyelashes during the GOP debate on Thursday night
  • On Friday Megyn was seen out and about in New York City - without the lashes or any make-up
  • However the Fox News anchor did spruce up her natural look with a very expensive fur coat
  • Meanwhile the 2007 book The F-Factor Diet that she had praised on her show soared to the top of the book charts

Megyn Kelly decided to have a makeup-free day as she stepped out in New York City just hours after Twitter users made fun of her long eyelashes during the Republican debate.

The Fox News anchor had been teased by viewers who said her eyelashes were 'longer than this debate' and might be 'strong enough to pierce a belt buckle'.

The next day, she toned down her look and let her outfit - a grey Elie Tahari coat made out of lamb shearling, originally for sale at $2,598 - take center stage.

On The Kelly File tonight, she said she'd had 'a long 24 hours' as she grilled Hillary Clinton supporter Robert Zimmerman - after she called him Richard by mistake several times.

Kelly co-moderated the GOP primary debate between seven candidates on Thursday night and called Donald Trump 'the elephant not in the room' after he decided to snub the event.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and Ohio Governor John Kasich shared the air time as Trump declined to participate, saying Kelly wouldn't be fair to him.

But while Cruz, Rubio and Bush poked fun at Trump and Christie blasted the Clintons, spectators kept coming up with more witty ways of describing Kelly's long eyelashes.

'Megyn Kelly's false eyelashes are so big, every time she blinks, the breeze wakes up Ben Carson. #GOPDepbate,' one of them tweeted.

'I'm worried Megyn Kelly's eyelashes are going to stab me through the TV,' another added.

Shearling! Shearling! Shearling!

If you haven't been paying attention the fuzzy fabric has been a major motif on and off the runways-- most notably in Coach's Fall collection but Acne has got a runner up for best suede/ shearling coat of the season.

And while Twitter had a heyday making fun of Megyn's eyelashes last night, she certainly made up for her lapse in judgement with this gorgeous elephant colored coat.

The sumptuous suede beauty is by Elie Tahari and just our luck-- it's currently marked down at Saks Fifth Avenue for $1039!

Still, it's as though many wouldn't mind looking a bit more like Kelly - as a 2007 diet book she praised on her own show, The Kelly File, has become an overnight bestseller.

The F-Factor Diet, written by Manhattan dietitian Tanya Zuckerbrot, shot to the top of Amazon's Movers & Shakers list and sold out overnight - eight years after it was first published, the NY Daily News reported.

The Kelly File anchor mentioned the book earlier this week during a conversation with director Michael Moore regarding school lunches.

She reminisced about getting 'delicious pizzas and cheeseburgers' at the cafeteria before being told she was 'chubby' and deciding to lose some weight.

When Moore asked for some tips, she said: 'Right now I would recommend the F-Factor diet because that is a great book and a great way of eating.'

'Do you get ten per cent of that?' Moore asked.

'No I don't unfortunately,' Kelly said. 'I just like the way that works. Before you leave we're gonna get you some fiber crackers.'

The diet doesn't cut out any food groups and relies on fiber to bulk up food without adding calories while slowing digestion and revving up metabolism.

Kelly revealed more about her diet on her show Friday night after Kasich said on air he was promising 'a chicken in every pot'.

'I love chicken! It's a lean protein - it's excellent,' she said. 'I have it several times a day.'

Kasich then complimented her on her performance during the debate, saying she and the 'whole team' had done a great job.
