On fire! Jada Pinkett Smith stands out in red as she lands at LA airport nearly two weeks after launching boycott against Academy Awards for lack of diversity

She was the talk of the town almost two weeks ago when she stated she would boycott the Academy Awards this year for the lack of diversity among its nominees. Her husband Will Smith was not given a nod for his performance in Concussion (though he has been nominated twice before).

On Thursday Jada Pinkett Smith made sure to stand out as she walked out of a terminal at LAX in a bright red belted coat.

The 44-year-old also had a pair of Yeezy sneakers by Kanye West.

The beauty was returning from New Orleans where she has been shooting a movie.

Her sleek asymmetric bob was tucked behind one ear and her makeup was nicely done.

She was spotted with her co-stars Christina Applegate and Kristen Bell on set of the R-rated comedy - previously titled Bad Moms.

The now-untitled film also stars Mila Kunis and singer Kesha, and doesn't sound like it will be troubling the Academy's judging panel.

It follows the adventures of a group of stressed-out mothers who set out to have a night of fun but end up tangling with the uptight PTA president.

Jada was seen wearing a chic black tuxedo jacket and cozy red UGGS, finishing off her look with a gold shaped necklace and pretty pink lipstick.

Her time on set appeared to be brief, as she arrived in the Big Easy on Tuesday in a similar style coat - except it was a subtle blue hue.

Then she told a reporter at the airport: 'I will say this. Considering that Alabama had its highest recruitment for the KKK on Martin Luther King's birthday I hope that we as African Americans can find a way to get along and step together in this.'

She added: 'And here's the deal this whole Oscars controversy isn't really about the Oscars.

'But really in my plea to ask all communities, and people of colour, to take back their power so that we can use it in all sectors of our community.'

Jada's husband Will said last Thursday he will also not attend next month's Oscars ceremony in support of the stance by his wife.

For a second year in a row, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated only white actors for the 20 slots, causing an outcry.

Smith, a mega-star whose role in NFL drama "Concussion" was overlooked this year, said he was out of the country when his wife announced on social media that she would not attend the February 28 awards ceremony in Hollywood.
