New data from NASA?s New Horizons spacecraft point to more prevalent water ice on Pluto?s surface than previously thought.

This false-color image, derived from observations in infrared light by the Ralph/Linear Etalon Imaging Spectral Array (LEISA) instrument, shows where the spectral features of water ice are abundant on Pluto?s surface. How would YOU cope being trapped underground for over TWO MONTHS? As new film about the Chilean mining disaster is released, survival expert reveals what such an ordeal does to the mind

How would YOU cope being trapped underground for over 2 MONTHS?

EXCLUSIVE: The 33 miners were trapped for a total of 69 days almost 500m underground in the San Jose mine, in Chile's Atacama desert. They spent nearly three weeks without food, not knowing if they would be rescued. Once the rescue team found them, it took another 52 days before they were dragged to the surface in a capsule called the Phoenix (the moment the last miner, Foreman Luis Urzúa, emerged from the mine). Now, a new film has dramatized the events that happened, from the mine's collapse to the rescue. Called 'The 33' and starring Antonio Banderas (left and bottom right), it shows the miners facing starvation, despair, and even considering suicide. Here, Dr John Leach, a survival psychologist at the University of Portsmouth reveals how being trapped underground affects the mind. The third day of not being rescued is the hardest psychologically, and at three weeks some may attempt suicide, he said. However, the effects of PTSD will eventually fade and the miners will recover, Dr Leach said. Describing the healing process using the analogy of breaking a leg, he said: 'You start out not being able to walk, then you slowly start walking and then after a while you can run again. Your leg will still bear the scar, but it will fade in time.'

EXCLUSIVE: Murdering a baby, taking an axe to a sleeping woman and slaughtering children in a schoolroom - the bloody 'true account' of rebel slave who inspired movie being hailed as antidote to the white Oscars

The Birth Of a Nation hailed as antidote to the white Oscars

The Birth of a Nation was a hit at Sundance and is tipped for Oscars in 2017. It tells the story of the rebellion led in Virginia in 1821 by slave Nat Turner (left, in a contemporary depiction) and stars Nate Parker (right). Turner and his fellow rebels killed around 50 or 60 people, according to accounts from the time. But the most sensational account was published by his lawyer and describes in what is said to be his own words Turner's reign of terror over whites in the area around Jerusalem, VA, now known as Courtland. Historians are unsure how much of the account is his but it is extraordinarily graphic and describes a series of killings of largely defenseless whites, among them slave owners but also children.

Sumatran tiger cub makes his public debut at Zoo Miami

Satu, who was born at Zoo Miami in November last year, is one of fewer than 400 Sumatran tigers alive around the world. Loss of habitat and illegal trade on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, are two reasons why their population has decreased dramatically. Satu was born an only cub, meaning his mother didn't produce enough milk to feed him and he had to be bottle-fed. He currently weighs 17 pounds and is expected to be 300 pounds one day. Zoo keepers now want him to get used to the Sumatran tigers shed before he moves there permanently. They feed him there in the afternoon before letting him play around.
