Whole Lotta History! Cheryl Fernandez-Versini shares throwback photo of her 'true friend' Kimberley Walsh' and says she's 'honoured' to be part of her wedding

They've been the best of friends for more than a decade.

So it came as no surprise that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was feeling a bit emotional ahead of Kimberley Walsh's wedding to her long-term love, Justin Scott.

Currently in Barbados for the nuptials, the 32-year-old singer took to Instagram to share a sweet post that detailed exactly how she felt about her former Girls Aloud bandmate.

'So on this Final Friday of @kimberleywalshofficial being just Miss Walsh I am going to throw it back to this little golden nugget,' she wrote.

'I don't know how I ever got so fortunate to find, share & grow the past 14 years of my life with such an amazing, beautiful, kind, considerate and genuine true friend.. This journey we have shared growing from girls to young women has shaped us into the people we are today.'

Continuing with the emotional post, she wrote: 'And I could not be more proud of the woman, mother & very soon to be wife you are and have became.. I love you soooo much. I am honoured to share with you one of the happiest days of your life.'

Hinting that the mum-of-one was planning on having another child, she continued: 'I wish you both eternal happiness, filled with love, laughter & a beautiful life with your husband to be and your gorgeous (hopefully growing soon) family...' 

She finished off the sentimental post by writing: 'Justin I love you & thank you forever for making her the happiest most content & best version of herself that she is today. You are one very lucky guy. I love you both #walshxscottwedding' 

Clad in a backless halterneck maxi dress, the brunette beauty is seen cosying up to a fresh faced Kimberly who dons a leopard printed number with gold hooped earrings.

The sweet snap was not dated, but appears to have been taken during their Girls Aloud heyday.

But whilst Cheryl and Kimberley's friendship has stood the test of time, the pair do not seem to see eye to eye with some of their fellow bandmates.

Cheryl and Nicola Roberts were chosen to be bridesmaids on Kimberley's big day, whilst somewhat controversially, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle were reportedly left off the guest list entirely.

Meanwhile, as well as working on her duties as a bridesmaid, Cheryl has been finding the time to top up her tan, taking to Instagram again on Thursday to show off her choice of beachwear - a skimpy red bikini.   

Looking incredible and showing off her toned abs, the single singer showed off her scarlet two-piece, captioning the image: 'I could get used to this island life.'

Standing in a very posh bathroom, she covered up a little in a cream lace cover-up as she looked better than ever and while her head was cut off in the snap, loose tendrils of her trademark brunette locks tumbled over her shoulder, allowing her toned frame to be the central focus of the sexy image.

While her own marriage may be over, Cheryl did not let her romance woes quash her excitement for the forthcoming wedding of her best pal Kimberley .

The Fight For This Love hitmaker also took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a cute snap as she touched down in Barbados to attend her pal's nuptials.

Sporting a cobalt blue cut-out shirt and wearing perfectly applied make-up, Cheryl pouted into the camera while raising her eyebrows in mock shock.

Rather than mention her pal's wedding, The X Factor judge opted to share her delight at landing in the home of fellow pop star Rihanna, who she lovingly dubbed 'Ri Ri'.

In the caption she wrote: 'just touched down in Ri Ri's town  #Barbados #dataccentdoe' - clearly enjoying the dialect of the locals she had met since arriving in the Caribbean. 

And while Cheryl is on holiday, her hectic work schedule never stops at home as she has just launched a stunning new make-up campaign with Maybelline.

The pretty star, who was formerly a face of Loreal, looks stunning in the sensational new images for the campaign, in which she pouted saucily into the camera while applying mascara.

Kimberley, 34, looked gorgeous in her maxi, already showing off a hint of tan after jetting into Barbados with her family the day before.

Cheryl recently revealed her excitement for the ceremony, telling Hello! magazine: 'Kimberley is just the best friend you could wish for. I'm so excited for the wedding.

'It is a celebration of two people in love that we've all been a part of, and I am so excited to celebrate their love story.' 

While the exact date is being kept under wraps for now, Kimberley has said she has been planning the big day for months.

She has been dating property developer Justin for 14 years, and they welcomed their first child into the world in late 2014.
