Groundbreaking full-custom design

Designing a full-custom ASIC is not an easy task. Our engineering team expanded upon our previous successful generations of full-custom ASICs and perfected the design for the TSMC 16nm process. Thousands of hours of computer simulation and meticulous engineering work enabled us to achieve a record low threshold voltage of 280mV providing the most remarkable efficiency possible. Every transistor of the 8162 hash engines was drawn and positioned by hand for optimum performance.

BitFury is a large-scale Bitcoin transaction processor and therefore we also need to be prepared for the block reward halving that will take place in summer of 2016. When we started the design of our 16nm ASIC we set a design goal of 0.06J/GH efficiency that would enable us to continue operating profitably even when the block reward is reduced by half.
