Move over Cindy Crawford! Model's 14-year-old daughter Kaia lands first major fashion campaign - just days after her mom 'joked' about retiring at age 50

  • Kaia appears in fashion brand Chrome Hearts' Spring/Summer 2016 campaign, which debuted online today
  • Chrome Hearts co-founder Laurie Lynn Stark has shot mom Cindy in the past and said their 'families have been dear friends for so long'
  • She also noted that it has been a 'privilege' to watch 'incredible talent' Kaia 'blossom into her own'
  • The accessories brand also counts Karl Lagerfeld, Kate Hudson, and Rihanna as fans, while Gigi and Bella Hadid have modeled for it in the past

Cindy Crawford may be entertaining the idea of retiring from the modeling business, but her daughter Kaia Gerber's career is only just beginning.

Today, high-end rocker-chic label Chrome Hearts announced that Kaia is starring in its upcoming Spring/Summer campaign, marking the 14-year-old's first fashion campaign since signing with IMG Models last year.

The teenager — who has also posed for Vogue, Teen Vogue, and CR Fashion Book — looks like a total pro in the new images, which see her posing in the brand's accessories.

As an uncanny mini-me version f her 50-year-old supermodel mom, Kaia has certainly been coming into her own in the fashion industry — but it sure doesn't hurt to have connections.

Chrome Hearts' co-founder, Laurie Lynn Stark, is also a professional photographer who has shot Cindy in the past.

As such, she's seen Kaia grow up — and didn't find the decision to cast her as the campaign's 'youthful yet timeless spirit' a difficult one.

'What a privilege it has been to watch Kaia blossom into her own,' Laurie Lynn told CR Fashion Book. 'Our families have been dear friends for so long so this was emotional for me — Kaia is an incredible talent, truly finding her own style as a model!'

In the campaign, Kaia is seen posing on a Manhattan street and inside an unfinished room — part of one of Chrome Hearts' six boutiques in the US.

For several photos, Kaia models a wide, edgy belt over a black leather trench coat that reveals her long legs. She also gives good face in two pairs of sunglasses.

Upcoming snaps — which the brand teased on Instagram last week — will see Kaia in black-and-white coat, a mini backpack, and even more adorable sunglasses.

Make-up artist Vincent Oquendo said that he chose to go natural with Kaia's beauty look because she's so young.

'I just wanted to keep her really dewy and focus all the attention around her eyes,' he told InStyle. 'I used a cream luminizer on her lids to create that sort of day-after-the-party look.'

He also used brown eyeliner and mascara to finish her off.

'There’s no denying she’s her mother’s daughter, but she definitely puts her own stamp on it — it’s like Cindy 2.0,' he added. 'She’s incredible to work with — easy, excited and an amazing energy!'

Kaia isn't the only famous face to mug for the brand, either. Gig and Bella Hadid have also lent their faced to Chrome Hearts, and appear in the brand's accessories all over its Instagram page.

'Chrome Hearts rules,' Bella wrote on Instagram accompanying a photo of herself wearing the brand with Gigi.

Other celebrity fans include Cindy herself, Rihanna, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, Lenny Kravitz, and Kate Hudson.

Interestingly, the launch of Kaia's new campaign comes just one day after her mother Cindy took to Instagram to refute suggestions that she plans to retire when she hits the age of 50 on February 20.

Cindy told United Airlines' Rhapsody magazine over the weekend that she wants to 'move on' from modelling when she reaches the milestone age, but the next day the beauty backpedaled on that remark in a long Instagram post.

The mother of two wrote: 'Every year, I tell my kids I'm retiring. It's a running joke in our family. And yet every year, opportunities pop up that really excite me.

'While it's true that I'm eager to shift my focus a bit to concentrate on my businesses, friends and family - I'm not making any final statements (not all headlines tell the whole story!).'

She continued: 'I have loved being part of the fashion industry for the past 30 years - and if that time has taught me anything, it's this: never say never. Thanks for all the support, I'm so excited for what 2016 hold! xo Cindy.'
