John revealed that his football coach/player father Salvatore was 'obsessed with the trial' circa 1994-1995.

'He was glued to the TV over this whole thing,' the New Jersey-born actor told Colbert.

'I was basking in the Pulp Fiction glory of the moment. We had just won best picture, the Palme d'Or, at the Cannes Film Festival so there was this duality or dichotomy of feeling this American tragedy at the same time celebrating a comeback, so it was a very mixed thing for me.'

Travolta continued: 'But my dad was keeping up with reality so I followed it pretty well through him.'
