The pregnant partner of Rebels bikie Joel Royston Makaea (right), who faces deportation to New Zealand, has begged authorities to let him stay - and says she is struggling without him. Perth woman Rhianna Manolini-Drage (left and inset) is expecting Mr Makaea's son in the next three weeks, and says authorities are judging her partner on his appearance, not his character. Mr Makaea, who was placed in immigration detention five months ago, has a criminal history including charges of disorderly conduct and driving under the influence of drugs.

Gwen Hartley (left with Claire, right, and Lola), 40, from Kansas, says microcephaly, thought to be caused by the Zika epidemic currently sweeping South America, doesn't have to be a death sentence - despite it causing incomplete brain development as well as a range of health defects. Her daughter Claire (bottom right), 14, was diagnosed with microcephaly at three months old, while Lola, now nine, was diagnosed while still in the womb. They weigh just 42lbs (3 stone) between them, cannot walk or talk, and suffer from daily seizures. Now the mother-of-three has spoken out in solidarity with other parents of children with the condition, describing how her daughters defied doctors' predictions that they may not not live beyond their first birthdays. Lola and Claire are often mistaken for babies because of their size caused by microcephaly - the same condition that has been linked to an outbreak of the Zika virus in South America, and has led to the World Health Organisation declaring a state of global emergency.

Model Iman Abdulmajid (left) has been seen for the first time since her beloved husband David Bowie passed away from cancer. Dede Koswara died in an Indonesian hospital on the morning of January 30 after having resigned himself to the debilitating illness which had tragically come to cost him his wife, job and independence. Known as 'the tree man' due to the uncontrollable, bark-like warts caused by the rare disease (pictured left and right in 2009), he spent his final few months in a hospital (inset) estranged from his wife and children suffering from a complicated series of health problems that included hepatitis, liver and gastric disorders.

Irish-born chef Gemma Stafford, who lives in California, preps the dish in a matter of minutes, using a handful of ingredients, then microwaves it in a cup for 20 seconds. A huge hole appeared in the side of Daallo Airlines Flight D3159 five minutes after it took off from Mogadishu Airport in Somalia to Djibouti in the Horn of Africa. A burnt body of an elderly man was reportedly found in Balad, 18 miles from Mogadishu.

A series of breathtaking photos have been taken of an amazing cloud front in the sky above Queensland, with heavy cloud, ice and lightning combining to make the perfect picture. The spectacular images were seen by locals in Moreton Bay, Wellington Point, Sandgate and Shorncliffe on Tuesday. Timothy Baxter, who photographed the clouds above Moreton Bay (pictured) said it was a 'great sunset storm'. The Bureau of Meteorology said the clouds had become layered in the sky, and blended with lingering ice in the atmosphere to create the colourful formations.

Putin's mysterious eldest daughter Maria (pictured left and right), 30, has been outed by Russian media as a PhD student studying dwarfism, who has a penthouse in Moscow and is a fan of TV show Little Britain. The Russian president's (inset) daughters have always been shrouded in secrecy but the photographs, if true, will be the first time the woman has been pictured since her father came to power more than a decade and a half ago. It is also claimed that the blonde woman believed to be Maria has a daughter of her own, making President Putin a grandfather.

A very photogenic bull calf with an Australian shaped mark on its hide may be spared from the sale yards. The calf, which has been nicknamed Aussie by people on social media, was found the day before Australia Day on a cattle station in Western Australia's Kimberley.

A group of climbers ascend Europe's tallest chimney in Slovenia, part of Trbovlje Power Station. At 360m the flue affords amazing, if not vertigo-inducing, aerial views of the Sava valley. The climbers' names are unknown. The power station was built between 1964-1968 and became operational in 1966. The chimney took 210 days to construct and is built from concrete and reinforced steel.

This is the heartwarming moment a mother duck and her ducklings have taken an orphaned baby bandicoot (pictured) under their wing. And nearly a week on, the tiny marsupial - known for its pointed ears, a short tail, grey-brown fur and a long snout - has become part of the feathered-family. Western Australian resident Rex noticed the furry creatures living in harmony at his Bouvard property last week when he went to check on his pet duck's eggs.

Mesmerising pictures were taken by 29-year-old photographer and pilot Felix Gottwald, from Dresden, Germany, on a series of flights from and to Uruguay, Argentina, Germany, Africa and Egypt. He captured both the interior of the cockpit and the stunning landscapes beneath him.

With the snowy Alaskan mountains in the backdrop, this climber is barely visible as he scales the craggy rock. The mountaineer is in fact Briton Will Sim who, along with Jon Griffith, established a new route on Mount Deborah (12,339 feet), the westernmost peak in the Hayes Range. Despite having their base camp destroyed on the first night in a wild storm and encountering dangerous avalanche conditions, the pair completed the climb last May.
