No vaping, Leo: Oscars bans smoking of any kind for its big night after DiCaprio was spotted puffing on an e-cigarette at the SAG Awards

  • The Dolby Theatre will have a strict no smoking policy on Oscars night
  • This also applies to e-cigarettes and vaping will be banned from venue
  • Comes after Leonardo DiCaprio was spotted vaping at the SAG awards
  • The pictures prompted a backlash from the American Lung Association

He was pictured celebrating his best actor win at the Screen Actors Guild awards by smoking an e-cigarette during the ceremony.

But Leonardo DiCaprio will not be able to do the same at the Oscars later this month after vaping has been banned inside the venue.

While it is illegal to smoke vape pens in Los Angeles restaurants, bars and other public places, the prohibition does not include 'theatrical production sites' such as the Academy Awards.

However, unlike the Shrine Auditorium, were the SAG awards were held, Hollywood's famed Dolby Theatre has an outright ban on all forms of smoking, including e-cigarettes.

And according to TMZ, the theatre will make no exceptions to their smoking policy, even on Oscars night.

Instead, anybody wanting to light up will have to go outside and stand in one of the smoking sections adjacent to the Dolby Theatre.

It comes after DiCaprio was spotted vaping at the SAG awards on Saturday as he sat at a table with some of his Revenant co-stars.

However, after the event, he was scolded by the American Lung Association for being spotted vaping during the ceremony.

They said that it was 'deeply troubling' to seem such a high-profile name smoking an e-cigarette.

The health watchdog later issued a tweet, where they pointed out the health risks associated with vaping.
