The 34-year-old was spotted filming a rather gruesome scene for an upcoming episode of her comedy series in New York.

The comedienne wore a prosthetic neck with ripped flesh along the seams for a scene in which her head will undoubtedly be 'torn off' via special effects.

Her make-up crew had painted bright green paint underneath on her real neck, which will act much the same was as a green screen.

In post production, the digital effects people can then transport her detached head wherever the script requires. 

Decapitation wasn't Amy's only malady either; on her thigh she bore a nasty looking open wound.

This one was straight out of the old school Hollywood shop of practical effects, with no digital trickery required.

Hanisch even shared an Instagram snap of the pair on set as they appeared to be covered in blood while dressed in scrubs.
