Zayn Malik slams claims he's 'refusing to play UK festival the same day as Little Mix to avoid awkward run-in with ex Perrie Edwards' as 'completely untrue'

He's already pulled out of two all-important interviews and it's now been alleged that Zayn Malik was refusing to BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Exeter on the same day as Little Mix.

The formerr One Direction singer was reported to have wanted to avoid an awkward run-in with his ex-fiancée Perrie Edwards at all costs, according to the Daily Mirror.

However, the star's representative has confirmed to MailOnline the claims are 'completely untrue'.

The 23-year-old's spokesperson insisted there is no truth to reports Zayn's past with 22-year-old Perrie - whom he split with last August - would be a distraction from his solo endeavours.

A source originally told the newspaper: 'It will take the shine off his performance because many people would then just talk about his past relationship. Zayn and his team really want his solo career to be all about the music.

'Once they are both at the same location on the same day, tongues will wag. And if they were to bump into each other, it would make the whole day awkward.'

Little Mix are on tour during the weekend of the mini-festival - which takes place on May 28 and May 29 - so if they cannot commit to a performance then Zayn will be free to play any day he chooses.

Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, Bring Me The Horizon and Chase & Status have all been confirmed for the annual music event so far.

The 20-year-old model of the moment recently told LOVE magazine that the pair bonded over their shared fame, saying: 'We cope with the trolls by having each other.

'It’s the same thing as dating someone within the industry rather than out of the industry. You only understand it when you’re literally experiencing it.'

Additionally, Zayn is very much in love with her, according to E! News.

A source revealed: 'Zayn and Gigi are getting serious. Gigi was so excited when Zayn asked her to be in his music video.

'They both acted very professional on set but it was very obvious that they were in love.'
