People's Defense Forces Press Office HPG-BIM has released a statement detailing the action conducted by guerrillas against the police headquarters in Amed's Çınar district 3 days ago.

HPG said the expansive action against Çınar police HQ was conducted in retaliation to the savage execution of 12 guerrillas by the Turkish state in Van on 10 January. According to the statement, the action at 23:30 on 13 January left more than 30 police dead, and some others wounded, to the extend could be verified by their side.

Refuting the Turkish media reports that a total of six people, one police and 5 civilians, lost their life in this action, HPG said this was a deliberately distortion of the truth, and said the followings regarding the civilian deaths it caused; "The action was basically aimed at the police forces in the five-storey building. Yet, it caused the death of 2 civilians in the adjacent lodges due to close proximity to the target. Separately, a transformer collapsed on a nearby house after exploding as a result of the action, which left 3 people inside, 2 of them children, dead. It is clear that our movement will never target civilians as a requirement of its general stand and political objectives. The action was aimed at security forces, and attention was paid to avoid any civilian harm. Still, the action resulted in civilian deaths, for which we express sadness and offer condolences to the families of civilians."

HPG noted that Turkish security forces retrieved the casualties from the scene by blocking access to the area on the grounds of the electricity pylons that remained on fire after the action. Casualties were removed from the scene with nearly 50 ambulances coming from Amed, it added.

Regarding the ongoing onslaught of Turkish military and police forces across the Kurdish region, HPG said the war waged by the colonialist AKP state in Kurdistan was a pretty merciless and immoral one. The statement by HPG underlined that; "Artillery strikes and executions target all our people as a whole, claiming lives of women, children and elderly all alike across the Kurdistan territory; Cizre and Amed-Sur in the first place. As much as could be compiled by the press, attacks of the Turkish state that directly target civilian population have killed a total of 170 civilians, who include 29 children and 39 women, during the course of the most recent aggression."

The statement emphasised that Turkish President distorted the truth and humiliated the people's sense by accusing People's Defense Forces of committing a massacre while children and civilians  in the Kurdish region are being killed on a daily basis on his orders.

HPG added that they will continue to conduct actions like Çınar and respond to the attacks of the Turkish state as long as its war policy remains in effect.
