Emma Watson enjoyed a night with her new boyfriend at Broadway's hottest show while their romance was in its earliest stages, it emerged today.

The Harry Potter actress and her tech guru boyfriend went to Hamilton in October with William 'Mack' Knight, before their romance went public.

Knight, 35, escorted her from the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway to a waiting car after their date. The show, a hip-hop musical about the Founding Fathers, is New York's biggest hit.

This weekend it emerged the couple had been spending time together on vacation in California, where Knight works for a Silicon Valley company.

'Normal guy': Mack Knight is a Silicon Valley high-flyer who was educated at two Ivy League universities

Knight was educated at Princeton, along with his identical twin Robert Tyson Knight, who also goes by his middle name.

He graduated in 2003 and studied at Columbia Business School in Manhattan, then moved to Silicon Valley.

Knight, whose parents are from Long Island, works for tech company Medallia, which sells software that processes customer feedback for businesses.

He has reportedly visited the actress, best known as Hermione in the Harry Potter movies, at her British home in Oxford.

Sources told The Sun that the 25-year-old is getting serious with the businessman, who is 'just a normal guy'.

Emma, who is currently promoting her new movie Colonia, is said to have spent the past week on holiday in California with Knight.

The pair are reported to have spent time holidaying at California's coastal Big Sur -staying at the $10,000-a-week VIP Post Ranch Inn.

Staff at the Big Sur Bakery said they recently saw the couple sharing a wood-fired pizza.

Emma is worth around $47 million, while William, 35, is believed to earn around $150,000 a year according to The Sun.

Going to Hamilton on a Saturday is an indication of that the couple were relaxed about their relationship being known about.

The hip-hop musical has taken Broadway by storm and attracted celebrity after celebrity.

It tells the story of the life of Alexander Hamilton and has proved so successful that the next show for which tickets are available from the theatre box officer are in September.

The actress's last known relationship was with Oxford University rugby player Matthew Janney, who she split with in December 2014.

A source told the publication: 'Mack is just a normal, down-to-earth guy who has nothing to do with Hollywood, and Emma loves that.

'She was left really hurt by her break-up with Matthew and it’s taken her more than a year to feel ready to start again with somebody.

'They’re really happy with each other and see each other whenever Emma does not have work commitments.'

Daily Mail Online has asked a representative for Emma for comment.

Another high profile romance for the star was with handsome Burberry model and One Night Only frontman George Craig, who she began dating in June 2010.

The couple went public at Glastonbury and she appeared in one of his music videos.
