Idris Elba leaves New York nightclub with supermodel Naomi Campbell as they enjoy friendly Stateside night out

They've been firm friends since he lent his star support to her Fashion For Relief charity event in 2014.

Fast forward two years, and Idris Elba, 43, and Naomi Campbell, 45, made time in their busy schedules to enjoy a night out at a New York nightclub together last week.

The handsome British pair seemed to have linked up while Stateside and were pictured leaving the prestigious 1 Oak nightclub at the same time.

The Sun newspaper romantically linked the duo, though MailOnline has contacted representatives for Idris and Naomi for further comment. 

The supermodel and Empire actress is rumoured to be in America for hip replacement surgery in at the age of 45.

Naomi, who has been walking the world's catwalks for three decades, was seen using a cane late last year with claims she had been discussing her hip surgery plans at the time. 

Naomi looked stunning in a black felt hat, while her flowing raven locks fell in curls around her shoulders.

She  wore a black winter jacket to keep the New York chill at bay.

Naomi let her natural beauty shine through by keeping her make-up simple adding a touch of highlighter on her cheeks and mascara to accentuate her eyes.

Idris and Naomi have been friends for years and often support each other at their respective acting and fashion events.

Idris joined a star-studded line up at Naomi's incredible Fashion For Relief charity fundraiser -  he arrived at London's Westfield shopping centre alongside chart-topper Tinie Tempah to support Naomi's bid to raise money for Ebola in 2014.

The buddies still seem to be supporting each other, with Naomi taking to Twitter to publicly congratulate him on his SAG Awards win, in the midst of the Oscars' race row.

Naomi Tweeted him just last week after his SAG awards win, and said: 'Congratulations @Idriselba you deserve your double WIN. @SAGawards' 

Idris became a father again after his girlfriend make up artist Nayiana Garth gave birth to a baby son in April 2014.

He broke the news on Twitter, telling more than 1million followers about the new addition to the family.

'My Son Winston Elba was born yesterday..Truly Amazing :-),' he captioned a shot of the infant gripping to his index finger.
