'Divided we fall': Super Bowl 50 trailer for Captain America: Civil War shows Marvel's superheroes in dramatic face off

They are the band of superheros who are set to burst onto the silver screen in May.

And the makers of the new Captain America: Civil War movie made the most of the captive audience of around 115 million for the Super Bowl to showcase the new trailer for the film on Sunday.

The clip was the most intense yet - showing the films heroes facing off some harsh challenges.

It opens with a lingering shot of Iron Man, Black Widow, War Machine lined up ready for combat.  

Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark was seen facing down a gun at point blank range, his fate not known as the blast goes into his hand.

Chris Evans as Captain America  is serious and almost menacing as he is seen looking at Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, played by Sebastian Stan, who is attached to a contraption.

It also looks like Tony Stark's close friend War Machine, played by Don Cheadle could have met his end.

Dressed in an Iron Man style suit, he is seen lying on the ground motionless.

Tony pulls his mask off and his face is revealed battered and bruised, blood streaming from his nose.

There is no sign of Spiderman, played by Tom Holland in the trailer

The trailer ends with Iron Man opening some doors saying: 'You chose the wrong side.'

Captain America is then seen standing side by side with The Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier, and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye.

Giving an indication of the 'Civil War' which is about to break out - they are facing off against Iron Man, War Machine and Black Widow.
