Stuck in the middle: Backstreet Boys find themselves used in a $2 million Chinese scam

Somebody has been playing games with fans' hearts and a touring company's check books, according to a new lawsuit.

According to TMZ, a Chinese touring company is accusing a promoter for falsely claiming she could get the Backstreet Boys to tour China, costing them $2 million in the process.

The website reports the company has filed a lawsuit against a woman named Angela Wong, who claimed she was a successful promoter.

The suit says that Wong claimed to have brought Britney Spears over to China and would do the same with the Backstreet Boys.

Wong allegedly said she would get the band - made up of A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell - to do 10 concerts over March last year.

The suit claims she then tried to reschedule and postpone the dates.

However, it was not until the Backstreet Boys turned up in China in May and performed with another promoter, that those involved realised something was up.

When confronted Wong allegedly gave back $640, 000 but now the company is suing for the rest of the money they paid her and wants damages.

The Backstreet Boys are no strangers to scams themselves, as they had to sue their now disgraced manager Lou Pearlman for pocketing millions while they received just a fraction of their earnings.

Lou - who is behind bars for running a Ponzi scheme - was also sued by his other massive boy band *NSYNC.
