'It's one of those magical performances you can't recreate,' said the Single Ladies star. 'I wanted it to be something iconic and something that people would never forget.'

And it certainly was as the tones of the Stevie Nicks-sampled opening notes of Bootylicious rang out across the New Orleans Superdome and Kelly and Michelle rose up from the stage.

'I couldn't do this without bringing Kelly and Michelle. Some of the biggest songs of my career have been with Destiny's Child. It's a part of my legacy, it's a part of my history,' Beyonce explained.

The Single Ladies star told CBS that  she couldn't have done the show without her former band mates, because 'some of the biggest songs of my career have been with Destiny's Child. It's a part of my legacy'

Slay all day like Beyonce in Gucci

Surprise! Beyonce dropped a video for her new song, Formation, that had the Internet in shambles.

In it the diva wore a series of new season looks from the likes of Zimmermann, Chanel and Rosie Assouline but this red blouse and matching skirt really caught our attention. It's by Gucci and it was pulled from the Spring 2016 runway.

The Italian brand put a luxe spin on the classic button down shirt by covering the collared number with a Gucci signature print. Coupled with the coordinating midi length skirt it makes quite a statement, but it would look just as nice with stovepipe denim and sky high heels.

'That was really a beautiful, wonderful thing to have my sisters left and right of me,' she added. 'I'm just very grateful that I had them there and I think they elevated my performance so much. And the fact thatwe hadn't performed together in so long. It was like old times.'

The show also included such set list gems as Crazy in Love, Baby Boy and Halo, while Destiny’s Child reunited for a medley of Bootylicious and Independent Women as well as quick snippet of Beyonce's hit Single Ladies.

'It’s always important for me to be a strong woman,' Beyonce said. 'There haven’t been that many women that have done Super Bowl halftime shows - I had to hold it down for the ladies.'

Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, Beyonce is set to appear alongside Coldplay - presumably for a performance of their song Hymn For The Weekend.

She is also expected to perform her brand new politically-charged single Formation, which hit the web on Saturday.

The song, which contains explicit lyrics referencing racism and violence, made waves online for its lyrical content as well as an appearance from four-year-old Blue Ivy, Beyonce's daughter with husband Jay-Z.

Bruno Mars, who headlined the Super Bowl haltime show in 2014, also confirmed himself as a guest at tonight's performance with an Instagram post on Saturday showing him rehearsing in Levi's Stadium.

Another performer set to appear is Lady Gaga, who will be singing the National Anthem before kick off in a moment she told NFL.com was one she had dreamed about 'since I was a little girl'.
