At the SAG Awards last year, the Emmy-nominated actress could not hold back her excitement about their upcoming wedding, which is expected to take place over the summer.

'It's going to be crazy, we want to do something really big,' she revealed during a red carpet interview.

'We have to. We tried to make a small list and it didn't work out. It's going to be insane. We have to plan a lot. I don't know if we're going to be able to do it this summer.'

The wedding will be a second time tying the knot for the beauty, who was previously married aged 18 in 1991 to her high school sweetheart.

She divorced two years later and has son Manolo, now aged 22, from the relationship.

Before finding love again with Magic Mike star Joe, she was engaged to businessman Nick Loeb in 2012 after dating on-off since 2010.

Two years later it was called off when the couple split for good.

Now, the exes are engaged in a legal dispute over frozen embryos they created together under a signed agreement stipulating that both parties must consent to any action taken utilizing them to produce children.

The embryos were created six months before they broke up.

While in New York, the beauty sat down with Good Morning America to discuss the ordeal in an emotional interview that will air on Thursday.

On Monday, while promoting her new film Hot Pursuit, opposite Reese Witherspoon, she discussed the hot topic with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM satellite radio program, saying her ex's lawsuit 'makes no sense.'

The comedic-actress told the host that she has no interest in co-parenting with her ex, saying a child 'needs a loving relationship of parents that get along, that don't hate each other.'

She explained: 'I don't hate him, but he obviously has a problem with me!'

On April 29, the 39-year-old published a New York Times op-ed arguing that he should be able to because he always dreamed of becoming a father - regardless of his relationship status with Sofia.

He told the paper that in 2013, the couple decided to try to use in vitro fertilization and a surrogate to have children when they were engaged.

Saying: 'We signed a form stating that any embryos created through the process could be brought to term only with both parties’ consent. The form did not specify — as California law requires — what would happen if we separated. I am asking to have it voided.

Adding: 'Many have asked me: Why not just move on and have a family of your own? I have every intention of doing so. But that doesn’t mean I should let the two lives I have already created be destroyed or sit in a freezer until the end of time.'

Nick said that back in 2012, one embryo was implanted into a surrogate, but it didn't take and the second time, the surrogate miscarried, leaving him crushed. Two more were created but they split.

He added: 'I asked her to let me have the embryos, offering to pay for all expenses to carry our girls to term and raise them... She has refused.'

Sofia’s lawyer Fred Silberberg told People that she 'has never wanted to destroy her embryos.'

However, she's not planning on using them either, the attorney said in the statement, adding that Vergara 'is content to leave the embryos frozen indefinitely as she has no desire to have children with her ex.'
