Not off to a good start, then! Jeremy McConnell cancels first TV presenting job since leaving CBB after being left in 'no fit state' from partying too hard

He has been keen to court the limelight in recent weeks.

But, when it comes to the crunch, it seems that Jeremy McConnell isn't quite ready to embrace life in front of the camera...after cancelling his first TV presenting job since leaving Celebrity Big Brother.

The Irish star, 25, was due to guest host TV3's Xpose on Monday, but the programme was forced to continue without him after he was deemed 'in no fit state' to appear on the show.

Trying to offer an explanation for the ungracious incident, a spokesperson told The Mirror: 'Jeremy has been totally overwhelmed by the response since he came out of CBB.

'He didn’t get back to Ireland until Saturday after over a month away and, I think, celebrated a bit too hard.

'He’s gutted to have let Xpose down in the way that he did but was ill and in no fit state to present the show.'

Yet, despite being an avid Twitter user, Jeremy is yet to personally address the incident.

On the contrary, his last message - which took place on Monday afternoon - simple said: 'Thanks to all the people supporting me I'm always very greatful . Have a great week xxx' [sic].

It comes after he was greeted by a horde of teenage girls at Dublin Airport.

And it doesn't look like he's going to have much opportunity to make amends in the coming days as his new 'girlfriend' Stephanie Davis is set to join him on Tuesday.

The former Hollyoaks actress, 22, tweeted on Sunday: 'Missing a certain someone like crazyyyyy roll on Tuesday.'

Stephanie and Jeremy have made no secret of their wish to be together despite the fact the soap star had a boyfriend, Sam Reece, when she entered the CBB house last month.

However, Stephanie insisted Sam wasn't such an innocent party, accusing him of cheating on her during their one year relationship.

During her exit interview with Emma Willis on Friday's final, she said: 'If everything was sweet at home then it wouldn't have been like that. I was just accepting the love that I was given.

'He just made me feel like I've never felt before and made me feel that bit of worth. He is the best thing going.

'I think beforehand I was in love with the idea of being in love. I think that's why I stuck with somebody who hurt me and it was toxic.'

Following his return to Dublin, Jeremy made an appearance on Irish chat show Ray D'Arcy Show.

He admitted he felt guilty over his romance with Stephanie because of her relationship with Sam, saying: 'She came in with a boyfriend into the house and there was chemistry but it's not like the outside where you can walk away from it.

'We were in this posh prison. Our feelings developed and we got a bit smitten. I like to think I am a respectful lad and I know she had a boyfriend but he's done well though, he has more Twitter followers than her so he's done alright.'

He even went as far as declaring: 'I really like the girl, haven't felt like this since my first love.'
