  • Man was shocked to see 'hundreds' of dolphins performing for the camera

This is the incredible moment 'hundreds' of dolphins interacted with each other and put on a show for a fishing boat off the Channel Islands.

Rick Ferbrache was out on the waters near the south coast of Guernsey with a friend when he spotted the huge pod swimming beside his boat.

The 55-year-old's mesmerising video, which has been described as a once in a lifetime sighting, has now gone viral after he posted it online.

Being in the trade for over 35 years, Rick said that at first he did not notice anything unusual - spotting dolphins off the coast of Guernsey is commonplace.

But once he started filming the marine mammals on his phone he realised there were many more than he expected.

And once he got home and re-watched the footage, he was shocked to see 'hundreds' of them performing for the camera.

He said: 'We were fishing off the south coast of Guernsey and we were making our way back to St. Peter Port when we saw the dolphins in the distance coming towards us.

'These were proper dolphins and they weren't stopping.

'We regularly see them through the summer - between eight and ten is the norm.

'I have never seen this many when I have been out before.'

Rick uploaded the video on his Facebook page, where it received thousands of views in a matter of hours.

Now the video has close to 100,000 views and has been shared on multiple sites.

Rick, who lives on Guernsey, said: 'I have never done anything like this before.

'When I put it on my Facebook page, I thought there would be 10 or 12 people looking at it.

'It's just gone crazy.

'I don't know the reason - I just saw it and thought it would make a nice picture.'
