Modern Family's Julie Bowen, 45, is nearly unrecognizable in prescription glasses and casual clothes as she heads into Jimmy Kimmel Live! 

She is known for dressing to the nines when on the red carpet and on her hit TV show Modern Family she looks like the ideal suburban mom.

So it was a shock to see Julie Bowen looking like a regular gal as she headed into Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Hollywood on Tuesday.

The 45-year-old actress had on a pair of nerdy but chic prescription glasses as well as some very casual clothes.

Her figure was covered by a bulky NY green sweatshirt. Skinny jeans were worn in, but showed off toned legs,

Instead of heels, the beauty had on comfy black trainers. She carried a light beige tote in her hand while going easy on the jewelry with a gold necklace and a pair of studded earrings.

Julie looked relaxed with her blonde hair styled into loose curls, and a light application of makeup to coat her flawless face.

While on the show, the mother-of-three discussed how she has been spending her time during Modern Family's hiatus.

She recalled how proud she was of her children, who raised money for victims of the Nepal earthquake by selling homemade lemonade at a hiking trail in Los Angeles.

Julie and her husband Scott Phillips are parents of eight-year-old Oliver McLanahan Phillips, and twin boys John Phillips and Gustav Phillips, who will soon turn six. 

The actress had the host in stitches when she remembered how her little ones at one point left her alone at the stand.

'They left me, alone. In a canyon. At a base of a very busy hiking trail, and now I'm an adult. A grown up whose salary you can google, asking for money, selling lemonade,' Julie said. 

Julie also detailed her love for basketball, and remembered how she startled Clippers player DeAndre Jordan when she attended a game. 

'I forget that I'm there. I'm like, "You got this! You have got this DeAndre!" And he looks at me horrified.'

Julie revealed that while she is on a break from filming Modern Family, she still spends time with her co-stars.

The actress recently came to the defense of her co-star Sofia Vergara, who is in the middle of a frozen embroyo lawsuit filed by her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb.

Nick in his lawsuit was seeking to gain control of two frozen embryos the couple created before their split last year.

Julie sang Sofia's praises when she attended LACMA's 50th Anniversary bash in April.

'She is one of the kindest, best people I know. I am so sad that on the eve of all of her great happiness that had to happen, but at the same time, I know that she will be perfectly fine. She is a wonderful person. She's such a good person,' she told the New York Daily News

She added: 'She's a bit shocked because it kind of came out of nowhere. But she's a great person. And she's with a great guy...now. That's what I have to say about that.'
