Enjoying London while they can: Christine Bleakley and Frank Lampard step out in the capital for relaxing day out... weeks before move to New York

Frank Lampard and Christine Bleakley were recently seen looking around Robert De Niro's £26m New York penthouse, with a potential view to buying it for themselves.

But as the couple stepped out on a date in London on Tuesday, the Manhattan real estate market looked like the last thing on their mind.

The pair - who are set to move to the US when footballer Frank joins MLS soccer team New York City FC in July - looked casual and carefree as they meandered around the upmarket Knightsbridge area together.

They first enjoyed lunch at Motcombs wine bar in Belgravia, before heading to Harvey Nichols for a spot of retail therapy.

TV presenter Christine, 36, looked her typically well-dressed self, displaying her slim legs in a pair of grey skinny-fit trousers and peep-toe heeled boots.

She kept her daytime ensemble neutral with a taupe thin knit layered under a leather jacket in similar creamy shade.

However, the brunette beauty added a splash of brightness with her oversized tangerine tote bag.

Her footballer beau meanwhile, also 36, looked casual in a similar outfit - grey jeans with a simple shirt and blazer combination.

The sweet pair, who have been together since 2009 and engaged since 2011, held hands as they strolled down the street for a casual afternoon of alone time.

Their trek around the capital came just a few weeks after checking out the Hollywood icon's old penthouse pad in New York, which went on the market last month for a cool £26m.

Despite its hefty price tag the 9,000 sq ft apartment - which would cost an incredible £64,000 ($95,000) per month to rent - has already proven a hit with possible buyers and now the couple are reportedly interested in it.

Frank and Christine flew to New York for the weekend where they watched his new team take on Sporting Kansas City at Yankee stadium.

But house-hunting was also on the agenda and both left the palatial pad with huge smiles on their faces.

The sprawling duplex, dubbed a 'contemporary masterpiece' and one of the city's 'most magnificent' penthouses' by agents, is situated in the West Village.

It boasts an enormous living room with a wood burning fireplace, and a master suite with two walk-in closets, an en-suite bathroom and a steam room.

It also features high ceilings, a library, a home office, a grand dining room, and 'some of the most impressive private outdoor spaces in Manhattan'.

Meanwhile, the couple are focusing on their big move across the pond, and Christine recently admitted that their wedding plans are on hold for the time being.

In a recent chat with The Mirror, she said: 'I'm looking forward to having a bit of an adventure. I'm excited about going to all the different sporting events, I want to go to everything there is.'

The big move will mean the This Morning star is away from her family and friends in the UK, but she's hoping it will mean more time with her fiance of four years, who will join his new club for two seasons:

'We just click,' gushed Christine of the Chelsea star, who has two daughters with ex-girlfriend Elen Rivas.

'When we're away from each other for a day or two I still get really excited to see him again, which is the best way to be.'

While their relationship goes from strength to strength, Frank's career move has meant a hold on the wedding plans for now, with Christine admitting 'it would be lovely to try to get it done but we don't really know where we are with Frank and football. Hopefully we will know more soon when we get to New York.'

When they do get around to tying the knot, the couple, who got engaged on a Los Angeles beach in 2011, will be keeping their big day low key. The former Dancing on Ice presenter insists they'll shun a celeb guest list in favour of their 'nearest and dearest'.
