Six released after Vic police car rammed

Six people arrested after a police van was rammed three times in Melbourne's northwest have been released without charge.

Two officers escaped serious injury after a driver allegedly drove at them after ramming their van.

Police say the incident happened when the officers tried to stop two speeding vehicles in Airport West at 1.30am on Thursday.

Only one of the cars pulled over but before officers could get out of their car the second vehicle, a white ute, allegedly returned and rammed the van.

The driver then drove at the officers as they fled the vehicle.

The ute and second car left the scene and the ute was later found burnt out in Kingsley Drive.

A police dog helped lead officers to a Hillside Grove home where four men and two women were arrested.

The six include a 51-year-old man and a 22-year-old man from Airport West, a 40-year-old Glenroy man and a 33-year-old Keilor East man, as well as a 53-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman, both from Airport West.

Their relationships are not known.

A police spokesperson said there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the matter but investigations were ongoing.
