Prince Michael's wife, Princess Michael of Kent, who has been dubbed 'Princess Pushy' thanks to her forthright opinions, didn't seem to be with them.

Sophie, who is best know for starring as 'Big Suze' in the TV sitcom Peep Show, married Lord Frederick in September 2009 at Hampton Court.

The pair welcomed their first child, daughter Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina in August 2013 in Los Angeles.

Sophie, the sister of Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman, told Hello! Magazine shortly after the birth that the labour was 'long and hard'.

She also revealed that Frederick - like most modern fathers - was present at the birth.

'He was very brave, because it wasn't delicate or pretty and I was horrid to him,' she added.

'He read me a crossword clue in the middle of it and I just wanted to throw a saucepan at his head.'

Speaking about his daughter's name, Lord Frederick said: ‘We liked the idea of an old-fashioned English name and there are a couple of Princess Mauds in my father's family from a hundred years ago.'

Maud was baptised at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace, wearing the Royal Family's Honiton lace robe - which was also worn by Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

As 42nd in line to the throne, the event was fairly low-key affair, with no senior members of the royal family attending.

Speaking about his first granddaughter, Prince Michael said: 'We are absolutely thrilled by the arrival of our beautiful first granddaughter, Maud.

'We are both besotted with her. Not only does she have the prettiest blue eyes and adorable tiny feet, but she is also remarkably well-behaved.'
