While Jos Buttler and England made their second-highest one-day international total of 399 to beat South Africa, just guess what Kevin Pietersen was doing?

Perhaps he was working hard to trying to force England's selectors into picking him for the Twenty20 World Cup in March?

Of course not. No, instead he chose to post a picture of himself on Instagram smoking shisha in Dubai.

Who knows whether the picture was posted in response to the England players' achievements in South Africa, but he did choose to include a rather provocative caption: 'When in Dubai... thanks, @moalhashimi1! Lovely company.'

In the post he tagged South African cricketer Cameron Delport, England batsman Ravi Bopara and ex-South Africa captain Graeme Smith.

Indeed, Pietersen might say he has good reason to relax and enjoy himself after he helped lead the Melbourne Stars into their first Big Bash League final.

And while they lost to the Sydney Thunder, Pietersen hit five sixes and four fours in his 39-ball 74 as the Stars posted 176-9 from their 20 overs.

Yet not content with posting a picture of him smoking shisha, he later let followers of his Instagram account know that an 'Uberchopper' wasn't available and ironically asked: 'How the hell am I gonna get back to the hotel?'
