Seal of approval! Vance Joy belts out Taylor Swift's I Know Places prompting US singer to call it her 'favourite' cover as the pair prepare to tour this month

He will begin touring with her in two weeks, and Vance Joy, real name James Keogh, proved on Tuesday why he was chosen to join Taylor Swift for her 1989 World Tour.

Taking to social media, the 27-year-old Riptide singer shared a cover he performed of Taylor's I Know Places taken from her latest album, 1989.

He captioned the video: 'I'm really excited about spending the coming months on tour with the incredible @taylorswift Feel lucky indeed. Here is a cover of one of my favourite tracks from 1989.'

One social media user said: 'You have such an amazing voice! Such a beautiful cover.'

It wasn't long before Taylor heard it and tweeted her approval to her 57.1 million fans.

She wrote: 'There have been so many amazing covers of 1989 songs...I'm going to be bold enough to say this one is my favorite.'

Vance's video has been watched over 125,000 times and there's no doubt it'll continue to rise.

While the tour has officially begun, Vance's first show will be in Louisiana on May 20 and he will continue through to the Melbourne show on December 12.

Taylor first hinted she was a fan of Vance when she performed his hit track Riptide at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge in October last year, with the video has surpassed 6.6 million views.

The gigs on Taylor's tour will give him an audience of millions every night providing an unprecedented platform to boost his career in the States.

Speaking about Riptide to TIME magazine last year, the Australian performer said: 'I had a special feeling about [the song].'

'I didn’t know if it was going to necessarily be a really popular song, but I knew that it was catchy and it had a definite spark to it.' he added.

The catchy tune landed Vance in the Top 10 on the charts at home and in the UK, getting inside the Billboard Adult Top 20 in the US.

While the singer-songwriter's debut album, Dream Your Life Away, also reached the top of the charts in Australia, Canada, the US and UK.
