In Chris Hemsworth she's married to one of the most desirable men on the planet, but Elsa Pataky put in her own claim as one of the most desirable women during a bikini-clad appearance in Byron Bay.

The Spanish actress was rather hard to miss in a striking blue bikini as she padded across the sand after the hitting the picturesque stretch of coastline with a group of pals. 

Displaying a set of finely chiselled abs and an extremely pert bottom, Elsa, 39, was clearly in great physical shape while preparing for a surf.

As she strolled on the beach in Byron Bay, Elsa Pataky was fairly hard to miss. The Spanish actress worked a bright blue bikini for her stint on the sand, wowing everyone with her super toned body.

The star might be turning 40 this year, but she boasts a figure better than women half her age and she certainly rocked that bikini. With its bright color and multicolored crochet trim, it's by a brand known as Kiini who produce the style in an array of hues.

In anticipation of her appearance on the water the mother-of-three tied her blonde locks in a neat, conventional bun that revealed a face bereft of make-up. 

Elsa had initially marked her arrival at the beach by sporting a bohemian white summer dress with distinctive floral embellishments. 

Appearing somewhat preoccupied she was seen checking messages on her mobile phone while idling on the sand, a thin beach towel casually draped across her right arm.

While she was in good spirits on the day, the actress was without hunky Thor actor Chris and their three children, with whom she relocated to Australia from sunny Malibu in January 2015. 

Elsa later pulled on a black wetsuit adorned with luminous yellow stripes before wading into the surf with her surfboard. 

Evidently a competent surfer, the actress navigated a series of modest swells after paddling into deeper waters with her board.

Speaking to the Today Show's Sylvia Jeffreys on Friday, husband Chris, 32, admitted that while he 'loved' living in America, it never felt 'like home.' 

'LA, I loved it, it was great being there with the opportunities with work, (but) it didn't feel like home,' he said when asked what he looks forward to most about arriving back in Australia.

'Instantly, when I get off the plane, I'm back,' he added of his move to Byron Bay with Elsa, daughter India Rose, three, and 12-month old twins Tristan and Sasha. 

He added that choosing to live on the coast was similar to how he grew up 'Which is I think is essential to what we want to give (the children).'
