Goldie Hawn to return to the big screen for first time in 14 years to play Amy Schumer's mother in new comedy

She's been sadly missing from cinema screens for almost 15 years now.

But Goldie Hawn is set to make her return with a bang - playing Amy Schumer's mom.

The Wrap reported that Hawn, 70, and Schumer, 34, will play a mother-daughter team on a family vacation gone wrong in an upcoming comedy.

It will be Goldie's first film role since 2002's The Banger Sisters.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film - in which she plays the best friend of fellow former groupie Susan Sarandon - almost quadrupled its $10million budget.

While the lead actresses' roles were generally praised by critics, the script was panned, and - for whatever reason - Hawn decided to take almost a decade-and-a-half hiatus afterward.

The new as-yet-untitled 20th Century Fox project will be directed by Jonathan Levine, who was also behind Warm Bodies, 50/50 and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane.

The script is written by The Heat's Kate Dippold - who will also serve as executive producer -  and is based on her own relationship with her mother.

Hawn is no stranger to comedy, having picked up the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1969's Cactus Flower, as well as a Best Actress nom for 1980's Private Benjamin.

She too led the classic comedies First Wives Club opposite Bette Midler and Diane Keaton, Housesitter with Steve Martin, and Overboard alongside her partner of 33 years Kurt Russell.

She is also mother in real life to fellow Academy Award nominee, Kate Hudson.

Schumer's first lead role in Trainwerck - a film she also wrote - won her a Critic's Choice Award and a Golden Globe nomination.
