England footballer Adam Johnson (pictured today centre, inset and right playing for Sunderland) pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child. He also admitted a charge of grooming, but denied two other charges of having sex with an underage girl. The 28-year-old Sunderland winger arrived at Bradford Crown Court this morning with his girlfriend Stacey Flounders (far left) for the start of his trial. Johnson had initially denied all four charges against him, but at the last minute he changed his plea to guilty on two of the counts. He is now due to stand trial on the remaining two counts of sexual activity with a child.

So what's next for Giggs? After years as United manager-in-waiting, the options facing club hero when Mourinho arrives
Ed Woodward spent time in California alongside members of the Glazer family last weekend. They were there for Superbowl 50 but it is not overly taxing to imagine where other conversations headed. The obvious various topics will have been covered: Louis van Gaal's tenure, how Manchester United will potentially fare without Champions League football next year and a certain Jose Mourinho. There is one discussion point the United directors must have broached - and that's the future of Ryan Giggs. For all the key changes likely to take hold at Old Trafford in the coming months what happens to the club's most decorated player is towards the very top of the club's agenda.

Liverpool walk-out will be a warning to clubs... they must start putting supporters first, says Redknapp
SAM CUNNINGHAM: Harry Redknapp believes the Anfield walk-out by Liverpool fans at the weekend to protest at rising ticket prices should act as a warning to other clubs. Fans are finally taking a stand against the rising cost of watching live football, especially in light of next season's £8.3billion TV deal. Liverpool supporters - including Sportsmail's Jamie Carragher - left their seats at Anfield in their thousands in the 77th minute of Saturday's 2-2 draw with Sunderland to protest at the £77 top-price ticket for their new Main Stand next season. The team were two goals ahead at the time.

He's the manager who divides opinion, but Posh boss Westley can be an FA Cup hero
MATT BARLOW: Graham Westley is about as far from the hopeless romantic as you are likely to find in football. Nothing is hopeless in the world of Westley. IAN LADYMAN - FOOTBALL EDITOR: When the Barclays Premier League member clubs learned the sheer scale of the staggering TV deal that will begin next season, they rightly thought that it would change the face of English football once again. What they didn't expect was that, ultimately, it would put them at odds with their own supporters.
