'I believe as I lost weight, insecurity built in my marriage,' she says. 'My husband would say mean things, and the smaller I got, the more he would say, "I think you want to leave me."

'But it wasn't until I lost 173lbs that he was like, "You're fat."' But he never called me fat when I was plus-size, ' she says, 'After that I made a decision that this was for me. This was for my health, so I got a divorce, and I started to work out even harder.'

Chantae admits that she struggled with her weight since the age of two, and by the time she was eight years old, she weighed 180lbs.

However, all of that changed when she married her ex-husband at the age of 23.

'He liked plus-size women and I kept gaining weight that I didn't really want, and my weight was starting to affect my health, and I hurt all of the time,' she recalls. 'That's when I knew I had to do something.

Chantae started by getting gastric bypass surgery to get her 'weight under control', and after the procedure, she found herself motivated five to six days a week for up to three hours a day.

'I was like, "I'm gonna work out until I fall out,"' she explains.

Her friend notes that she was dropping weight so quickly that in one month 'she looked like a whole other person. 'I didn't recognize her,' she adds.

Chantae agrees, recalling how she saw a change every time she would go and get on the scale. And while, she is healthier than ever, she still feels like she is being held back because of the excess skin that covers her body.

'I've lost 222lb, but this skin makes me feel helpless and disgusting,' she admits. 'There is nothing more I can do on my own.'
