But brave Joe Swash hasn't been deterred by the dangers of the winter sports show, with the actor signing up to fill the gap left by the fallen celebrities.

The former EastEnders star, 34, has been spotted getting to grips with his skis, and he appeared to be comfortable on the slopes as he neatly slalomed down the mountainside.

Cutting a cool customer in the chilly climes of Innsbruck, Austria, Joe dressed in a navy ski jacket and blue trousers.

With a pole in either hand, the cheeky chappy navigated his way around a series of flags on the slopes leaving a powder trail in his wake.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 told MailOnline: 'Joe is in Austria, but will be undergoing an assessment to ensure he is of a suitable standard before he can be cleared to join the show.'

If he successfully meets the show's criteria, Joe will join existing participants  Dean Cain, Linford Christie, Brian McFadden, Heather Mills, Sid Owen, Tamara Beckwith, Sarah Harding, Louisa Lytton, Gemma Merna and Tom Parker.

Ola Jordan weighed into The Jump safety row during an interview on This Morning, on Thursday, after the show has been criticised after a spate of celebrities have suffered from injuries.

The professional dancer, 33, who sat alongside fellow former contestant, Marcus Brigstocke on the sofa, said she still hasn't recovered from the 'devastating leg' injury she suffered last year.

'It's an incredibly dangerous sport,' she told the show's hosts, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

'My accident could have happened on holiday. I signed up to a dangerous sport. No one pushed me into it and the injury was my fault.'

Double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington, 26, withdrew from the show on medical advice after a shoulder injury.

Holby City actress Tina Hobley, 44, also headed for the exit after she dislocated her elbow and suffered two fractures to her arm.

Champion gymnast Beth Tweddle had to undergo neck surgery after damaging two vertebrate while competing in the show.

And on Tuesday, it was confirmed that Made In Chelsea star Mark-Francis Vandelli, 26, had also pulled out after fracturing his ankle.

Although he has not ruled himself out of the show, the future looks uncertain for former athlete Linford Christie, 55, who was unable to take part in an event on Sunday after pulling his hamstring.

And former EastEnders star Sid Owen, 44, was unable to perform the air jump live due to injury.

Christie told The Sun: 'I pulled my hamstring. I didn't even know I had hamstrings at my age.

'All of the sudden I did a ski jump. I landed funny and I can't even touch my toes. I felt a pop.

'I've had a scan and get some treatment tomorrow. I should be back for next week. I am coming back.'

Joe is currently enjoying a blossoming romance with former X Factor favourite Stacey Solomon, 26.

The pair made their first public appearance together last month, when they were spotted looking smitten after a game of bowling at the City Pavilion in Romford, Essex.
