Demi Lovato is not engaged Wilmer Valderrama but she certainly would like to be.

The 23-year-old star fessed up to Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday that after five years she is ready to head down the aisle with her long time beau.

The Skyscraper star told the talk show host on Ellen's show - which airs Wednesday - that there is no truth in the rumour that she and the 36-year-old actor are engaged.

Holding up her tattooed hand, the pop star said: 'I don't see a ring... I wouldn't mind if I saw one.'

But the star said in the sneak peek, she is not trying to push her love to do anything he is not ready for.

'There's a time for everything [and] we've been together this long so I'm not going anywhere and vice versa.'

After Ellen showed a Instagram post by Demi in which the former child star spoke of her love for her boyfriend on his recent birthday, Demi could not help but gush about him.

'Look at how handsome he is, he is so handsome!'

The pair first met six years ago but while Demi was a love struck teen, Wilmer wisely took his time before feeling the same way.

Demi - who has publicly spoken about her battle with an eating disorder - said the Kardashian girls, Kim in particular, made her realise beauty comes in all different sizes.

She told the host: 'When I was growing up at the kind of age where your body starts changing and you want to be cool. It was in that era of when very, very, very thin people were the popular people in Hollywood so that's what I had to look up to.

'And after having had my issues with eating looking back I thought, ''I want to be the difference for people growing up'' because I wish that somebody had gone to me whenever I was 12, 13 and said, ''Hey, you don't have to look like that to be cool.''

'And when the Kardashians came on the scene that was the first time that I really associated curves with beauty and it was just so new to me.

'I remember thinking ''Wow that's so cool'' and even in a time when I was still struggling with food, I was able to look at Kim's curves and be like ''I should really be proud of my curves.''

'And because of that and now it's you know, obviously there's tons of beautiful, curvy women out there, but it made me feel more confident in my skin to do that Vanity Fair shoot.'
