What resignation? Nick Grimshaw cuts a carefree figure at London Fashion Week ...just HOURS after quitting X Factor

He has just resigned from perhaps the biggest show on ITV.

But Nick Grimshaw wasn't showing any anticipation about the future when he stepped out in central London on Friday night.

The Radio 1 DJ was all-smiles as he attended a London Fashion Week show in Covent Garden's Freemasons Hall, just hours after quitting the X Factor.

Clearly not keen to keep a low profile, the Oldham-born star wore a green and blue checked suit for a dapper - and dramatic - aesthetic.

Mixing it up with a grey, scoop-neck T-shirt, the Radio 1 DJ added extra presence with some newly-dyed pink hair.

Taking a pew on the front row of Pam Hogg's modest showcase, he seemed completely carefree, despite his recent showbiz drama.

Just 24 hours earlier, on Friday, the 31 year-old confirmed he'd quit Simon Cowell's prime-time show, despite counter claims that he had been axed.

A spokesperson for the radio DJ said: 'After careful consideration, Nick has decided to rule himself out as a judge on this year’s X Factor.

'He loved working on last year’s series alongside Rita, Cheryl and Simon but it was very much a once in a lifetime experience.

'He remains a massive fan of the show and is looking forward to watching it this year.'

An X Factor spokesperson said in a statement: 'Nick was a great mentor on last year’s series. He did a fantastic job with the boys’ category and we’d like to thank him for all his hard work. We are sad to see him go but wish him all the best.

'Details for the new series of The X Factor are still being discussed and will be announced in due course.'

Fortunately, there were plenty of other people to help him focus on other matters.

They included mother and daughter duo Leah and Jo Wood, who joined the northerner on the coveted front row.

Wearing a long, black dress with a cream jacket, 60 year-old Jo looked age-appropriate, while Leah, 37, was typically cool in a boyish ensemble.

Conveniently, her appearance comes shortly after she announced that her quarter girl band will release another album, alter this year.
