'I was just happy to get a chance to audition!' Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid's son Jack discusses his HBO series Vinyl
He's already a veteran when it comes to acting, as he's the son of two famous movie stars.
But 23-year-old Jack Quaid revealed that he could barely believe his luck when he was given the chance to audition for a part on the new HBO series Vinyl.
The show, created by Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese, among others, depicts the excesses of the New York music scene in the early 1970s.

Jack, who's already starred in the blockbuster Hunger Game franchise, was quite modest when it came to his addition for the show.
'I was just happy to get a chance to audition,' he told HuffPost Live, adding 'it was nuts.'
While actors are obviously familiar with being asked to audition for parts, it was a slightly more personal experience for Jack, as he ended up auditioning in front of Martin himself.
'I auditioned for Scorsese in his hotel room. I don't think I've ever been that nervous.'

After securing the role, he was tasked with researching the part of a young music executive at a declining record label.
He recalled, 'I watched the Woodstock documentary, and right after that [I] watched the Rolling Stones documentary Gimme Shelter' - which exposed a darker side to the rock and roll of the time.
However, there were some things that would take some practice on set, especially for a self-described 'dork' such as Jack.

Jack admitted to never trying the highly-addictive stimulant, which was substituted with either Vitamin B or baby formula powder on the set.
'You have that sensation of stuff going through your nose,' he observed, which helped with realism.
