Actress and author Giovanna Fletcher has revealed she was body shamed by a 'near stranger' - just 11 days after she gave birth to her second child.

The 31-year-old, who is married to McFly frontman Tom Fletcher, took to Instagram to share her experience, explaining her dismay after the woman made comments about her tummy and her face.

Giovanna, who is mum to Buzz, 23 months, and Buddy, two weeks, wrote how she was shocked after the person - whose name she didn't reveal - pointed at her and said: 'Oh look, Mummy's still got her tummy'.

In her post, which has been liked almost 40,000 times in a matter of hours, Giovanna wrote: 'A few days ago I had a near stranger point at my stomach, laugh and say "Oh look, Mummy's still got her tummy".

'This was eleven days after giving birth. I was so shocked I laughed. But the words have stuck with me. Obviously.

'It wasn't left there either as there was another comment about my face "slimming down". More than anything, I was baffled over the stranger's need to share her thoughts...

'Yes, I still have a bump. But that bump kept my little baby boy safe for a whole nine months. That bump has filled my world with even more love and light than I knew possible. That bump is a miracle worker...

Giovanna was inundated with support after sharing her post, which drew in almost 40,000 likes in three hours. Becky Heath advised her to 'take no notice', while Chloe Carroll wrote: 'You are beautiful and we all love you'

Giovanna's friends and fans were quick to jump to her support, with Becky Heath writing: 'How rude!!!! I wouldn't even say that to a best friend, how easy to give someone a complex. 

'Take no notice, be proud as u say ur bump kept ur little safe and warm for 9 months, so it won't disappear the minute u give birth. Stupid rude lady!'

As well as playing in McFly and McBusted, Giovanna's husband Tom has notched up 10 number one UK singles in the last 12 years and has written songs for One Direction and Busted.

Tom, who recently spoke about living with depression and how having a child had given him a new-found sense of purpose, is also a successful author.

He co-wrote his first children's book The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas with band-mate (and Ellie Goulding's boyfriend) Dougie Poynter in 2012.
