He went home empty handed after being beaten by man-of-the-hour Leonardo DiCaprio at Sunday's Academy Awards.

But Eddie Redmayne didn't appear to glum as he got back to normal life on Tuesday.

The handsome Brit was spotted enjoying a low-key lunch with pregnant wife Hannah at Nobu in Los Angeles after the whirlwind of awards season.

Eddie, 34, stuck to casual gear in a jumper and chinos as Hannah - who is expecting their first child this year - looked comfortable in in a baggy T-shirt and tweet blazer, showing off her blossoming bump.

It's was a world away from their evening out on Sunday, when they made a very sophisticated appearance on the red carpet at the biggest night in Hollywood.

Eddie - who was nominated for Best Actor for his turn in The Danish Girl - cut a debonair figure in a stylish black suit complete with a black bow tie.

His velvet jacket ensured he made a sartorial statement without jeopardizing the class the event demands.

Blossoming: Eddie, 34, stuck to casual gear in a jumper and chinos as Hannah - who is expecting their first child this year - looked comfortable in in a baggy T-shirt and tweet blazer, showing off her blossoming bump.

The handsome award-winner wore his hair tousled and, as ever, his youthful complexion was unblemished.

Hannah was radiant in a high-waisted floor-length black gown with a golden neckpiece.

The PR executive held a lavish matching clutch and styled her thick locks in an off-centre parting, allowing her natural waves to cascade down her front.

It was all smiles between Eddie and The Danish Girl director Tom Hooper, 43, with the pair clearly sharing a close bond.

Tom, dressed in a traditional black suit, placed his arm around the actor's shoulder and the pair flashed pearly grins for the cameras.

It's been a hugely successful last couple of years for Eddie, who won the Best Actor gong for his star turn in the Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything in 2015.

And the humble star, won't be too despondent if he doesn't win the double after being nominated in the same category for his work in The Danish Girl this time round.

Speaking at The Film is GREAT Reception on Friday night, the actor confessed: 'In my mind it is pretty much certainly Leo's year and he really deserves it. I am going along to enjoy the night.

Eddie, who was accompanied once again by Hannah, added: 'To be nominated again is just the greatest honour and especially in that company of actors.

'I am not getting carried away. I still pinch myself about last year, let alone what is happening again.'

So far this awards season, Leo has taken the BAFTA, Critics' Choice Award and Golden Globe Awards in the face-off with Redmayne, for his work in The Revenant, which often indicates who will take the Oscar.

Eddie's co-star in The Danish Girl, Alicia Vikander with whom Eddie reunited later that night, arrived to the reception in a light blue high-neck dress, featuring an elaborate floral pattern.
