And all that jazz! Molly Ringwald, 48, shimmers in sequin gown as she delivers a fiery performance with her cabaret show

Molly Ringwald was the girl who won over hearts in in such '80s flicks as Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast.

The 48-year-old star changed the tempo as she took to the stage at Birdland, New York City with her cabaret show An Evening With Molly Ringwald.

Molly gave her audience something they wouldn't soon forget as she belted out tunes while clad in a shimmery and sparkly mauve sequin number.

The gown featured a plunging neckline and a front split that showed off a bit of leg.

Her hair was a fiery red and styled the way a flapper would have worn it in the 1920s, chopped off at the nape of the neck and wavy.

She was joined by her five musicians who have been travelling across country with her on this show: Allen Mezquida on alto sax, Mitchell Long on guitar, Peter Smith on piano, Trevor Ware on bass, and Tony Jefferson on drums, according to the Birdland web page.

Although she's known for playing the luckless female in John Hughes' beloved coming-of-age movies, Molly re-emerged as a musician three years ago.

She released the jazz album Except Sometimes in 2013.

Molly was born with an inherent love of music, especially jazz.

'I grew up in a home filled with music and had an early appreciation of jazz since my dad was a jazz musician,' Molly said in a statement at the time her album came out.

'Beginning at around age three I started singing with his band and jazz music has continued to be one of my three passions along with acting and writing.

'I like to say jazz music is my musical equivalent of comfort food. It's always where I go back to when I want to feel grounded.'

Molly, who shares three children with writer husband Panio Gianopoulos, daughter Mathilda, 12, and twins Adele and Roman, six, told People last November that her 40s have been an interesting chapter in her life.

'It feels really good. I feel like I'm in this new, interesting place,' she said.
