Barack Obama will be the subject of an upcoming film about his years in New York City while attending college at Columbia University.

Barry will tell the story of Obama finding his way in the Big Apple in 1981 and a relationship he had with a young woman.

This is the second film about Obama set to his theaters. Southside With You, a film about Obama's first date with wife Michelle, premiered at Sundance to positive reviews in January and will be released later this year.

Barry will star Devon Terrell as Obama and Anya Taylor-Joy as the young woman reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Taylor-Joy is already having an amazing year thanks to her breakout role in the horror film The Witch while Terrell was cast as the lead in Steven McQueen's new HBO show Codes of Conduct.

Vikram Gandhi will direct the film from a script written by Adam Mansbach, the author who is best known for writing the humorous children's book Go the F*** to Sleep.

The movie is set to begin shooting in April.

There is no other information about the film and it is unclear what the relationship will be between the two leads.

Given that the film takes place in 1981 it will likely not tell the story of Obama and Genevieve Cook, the young Australian woman he dated after the two met in 1983 at a Christmas party.

Details of their relationship were revealed when parts of Cook's diary appeared in Barack Obama: The Story by David Maraniss.

Obama also wrote about some of his early female relationships in his memoir Dreams from My Father.

It is not yet known how Obama feels about this new film, but he and his wife have said they are excited about Southside With You.

Director and screenwriter Richard Tanne, who has said the film is fictionalized, said of the Obamas at the Sundance Film Festival; 'They're excited and they're also a little baffled by its existence.'
