The 11-year-old's hole in one stuns golfing legend Tiger Woods, who high-fives the youngster before embracing him in a hug

Taylor was invited to take the first tee shot on The Playgrounds at Bluejack National, a new golf course in Montgomery, Texas, which has been redesigned under the watchful gaze of Woods.

A group of youngsters representing the Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf club had been invited to christen the course - with Taylor being introduced by the commentator as a 'man with a perfect school attendance record until today'.

But skipping a day of school was clearly worth it for Taylor, from Corpus Christi in Texas, whose jaw-dropping shot will certainly be a moment he will remember.

There is silence as young Taylor prepares to take his shot on an 81-yard par three at The Playgrounds, and the camera slowly pans round him as he sets up.

Then without hesitation, he tees off and and scores the hole-on-one - much to the disbelief of everyone on the course.

The achievement also won praise from Woods on Twitter, who wrote: 'First hole at The Playgrounds and this happened,' accompanied by a video of the shot.

After the shot, Woods can be seen in the video putting his hands on his heads and asking the audience: 'Are you kidding me right now?!'

The Playground is a 10-hole course of par-3 holes that range from 53 to 102 yards in length. A short course designed for families, it also boasts a cutting-edge golf performance center.

Tiger Woods has reiterated that there is no timetable for his return to competitive golf, despite giving a positive update about his recovery from back surgery.

Woods posted a video of himself hitting a shot in an indoor simulator last week following suggestions he found it painful to sit down and was unable to move well.

The 40-year-old has undergone three back operations in the space of 19 months.

He memorably won the last of his 14 major titles at the 2008 US Open despite visibly struggling with an injury which required surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament, forcing him to miss the remainder of that year.

On a video broadcast on www.golfchannel.com, Woods said this week he was 'getting stronger'.

He added: 'When I was there in December at the Hero, I wasn't feeling very good and you could see it all over me.

'I couldn't play with my kids; I wasn't able to throw and play catch with my son. What father and son don't actually play catch?

'But I'm getting there and I'm able to participate more in their lives, I'm able to start doing things more with them and part of that is playing golf and going out there chipping and putting with (son) Charlie and having him beat me. It's been tough at times but it's been a lot of fun.

'One thing I do know is I am progressing, I'm getting better, I'm getting stronger and I have to just take it day by day.

'I still have to get stronger, I still have to get more flexible. There's still a lot I have to do before I can go out and play.'

He added: 'I've played through a lot of injuries, I've played through some situations I probably shouldn't have played, won some tournaments I probably shouldn't have won, but I've cost myself other tournaments by pushing through that and I've cost myself months and years because of it.

'But that's what athletes do; we play through pain, we deal with injuries, it's a part of playing sport.'
