Former American Gladiators star 'Hawk' Lee Reherman found dead at home age 49

Former American Gladiators star Lee Reherman has died at the age of 49.

Lee, who was Hawk on the hit competition show, was found dead at his Manhattan Beach home by his girlfriend on Tuesday morning, his rep toldTMZ.

He reportedly had had hip replacement surgery a few weeks ago, and had since complained about not feeling well, the gossip site reports.

The news was confirmed by the Gladiators TV show's official twitter account, which shared a photo of Lee as Hawk.

'It is with much sadness we inform you that #AmericanGladiators star Hawk @LeeReherman sadly passed away this morning,' it said.

The cause of death is undetermined at this point, but foul play is not suspected, TMZ reported.

Actor Dean Cain, who appeared on the show's Celebrity Gauntlet challenge, also tweeted his memories of Lee.

'RIP Lee Rehrman (sic) I will miss you brother,' he tweeted. The pair played against each other in college football.

In addition to being an athlete and Gladiators guest star, Lee was also a producer and actor, and appeared on a number of TV shows including playing a secret service agent on The CW's The First Family.

He also had guest roles on 90201, The X-Files,  Gilmore Girls, NCIS and General Hospital, and this year appeared on Jane The Virgin and Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life.

Lee was Hawk on Gladiators between 1993 and 2000.
