Hilary Duff certainly knows how to look as fresh as spring when she wants to.

The 28-year-old Younger star glowed in a floral mini dress that showed off her toned legs as she headed out in New York City on Thursday.

This comes after the mother-of-one told TMZ that she is 'breaking all the rules' when it comes to her divorce from Mike Comrie. The two have been far from bitter exes as they were just seen last week vacationing together in Hawaii, proving they are quite amicable.

The star also said that her trip to Hawaii was 'awesome' and she wishes she could be back on the island.

She was caught while walking through the airport on her way to New York and was with a female pal.

On Thursday she showed off toned and tanned legs as she headed out for a press event.

Adding a touch of colour to her look with a large nude handbag, the mother-of-one held onto a black jacket and shielded her eyes with large sunglasses.

Sweeping her locks back into a low bun, the fresh-faced star worked a pretty pink lip as she smiled at onlookers.

The Houston-born beauty - whose divorce from Mike Comrie was finalised February 2 - will celebrate their son Luca's fourth birthday next month.

'It is very hard. Someone asked me, "How do you sing? How do you act?" Before I had a child, I could do all those things and give it my everything, and I was like peddle to the metal sleep when I die,' Duff said in a Facebook video on February 16.

'And now my son takes priority over everything. I'm not going to be on a world tour and be the top of the charts, because I don't have the time to put in and that's not what's important to me. 

'You know, I'm always going to choose my child first and I think every mom feels that way.

The Sparks singer continued: 'So even though we have the talent or what it takes, I think it's hard to choose because acting is something that's always in the forefront and then music is the other thing that I do that I love.

'And then obviously, being a mother is the number one. He's just now becoming aware of what I do and I'm proud to be able to work and show him someday what I've done.'

Hilary currently plays Kelsey Peters in the 12-episode second season of Darren Star's sitcom Younger, which airs Wednesdays on TV Land in the US.
